Hi kgrema! I will be glad to assist you in this issue,
Usually all you have to do is initialize hard disk even if you do not have one. Just turn off the printer. Turn the printer back on and when the memory starts to count hold down the menu key until all three lights come on. When all three lights are on solid release the menu button and press the arrow back button and initialize disk should appear in the menu. Just hit the check mark button again and it should take care of the problem.

Here is the link just incase it does not solve the issue.

Hello !

From HP Support:
68.X PERMANENT STORAGE WRITE FAIL To continue press (Select) Description A nonvolatile storage device is failing to write. Pressing the Select (check) button should clear the message. Printing can continue, but behave unexpected in response to the changed settings. Another suggestion:
Turn off the printer. Turn the printer back on and when the memory starts to count, hold down the Menu key until all three lights come on. When all three lights are on solid, release the Menu button and press the arrow back button (<) and the initialize disk should appear in the menu. Just hit the Select check mark button again and it should take care of the problem.

Hope these suggestions help.
