If the washer leaks all the time, check these:

  • Water inlet valve: If water drips even when the washer is off, check the water inlet valve. It is located inside the washer at the back of the unit. The fill hoses are attached to it. Replace if deemed necessary.
  • Water fill hoses: Check the water hoses from the household plumbing. Tighten it or replace it as necessary..
  • Main tub seal: It is located between the transmission and the outer tub. To see the leak, fill the machine with water with small amount of detergent then open up the machine's main access panel.. The leak appears at the underside of the outer tub, at or near the center. The seal is difficult to replace and you probably should call a qualified appliance repair technician.
  • Pump: You can spot the leak when the tub is full of water if the pump leaks. The pump has two or more black rubber or plastic hoses attached to it and usually has a drive belt that spins the pump. Replace it as necessary if it leaks.
  • Outer tub: The outer tub can rust, split, or be punctured. You may have to replace the entire tub but its not economical repair to do. Consult a qualified technician for deatils.
If the washer leaks only during the fill cycle, check these:
  1. Air-gap device: It is a small device found on most washers that prevents the wash water from being siphoned into the household water supply. It is located either mid-way along or at the end of the black rubber hose that comes from the water-inlet valve. It is usually made of translucent plastic. If one of the air-gap components deforms or cracks, you have to replace it.
  2. The tube: It is a rubber tube that runs between the water-inlet valve and either the air-gap or the inlet spout. If it cracks or breaks, it can cause a leak.
  3. Inlet spout: It is a plastic spout found on most washers near the top of the main clothes tub that directs the water into the tub. If the spout cracks or breaks free of its mounting, it can cause a leak.

My washing machine stop working half way through a cycle. Water is still in basket. The timer just make a huming noise. I can get the machine to move back and forth but not spin nor train the water. ...

Unplug machine, then use a putty knife to push the two retaining clips in, located in the seam between the front panel and the washer's top, about 2 or 3 inches in from each side, while you gently pull the front panel forward. Now, take the hoses off the pump (be ready to catch some water with towels or buckets, depending on how much water is left in the tub) and remove pump. Clean out any obstruction in the pump, like rubber backing from a rug, filling from a pillow, a nail or screw from a pocket, etc. Re-assemble pump and hoses, connect power and test.

General Electric WCSR2090D Top Load Washer accidently overfilled, now when we start a cycle it starts aggitating immediately. When I shake the loading bucket I can hear water splashing

You will always hear that water, as it is a liquid in the balance ring around the top of the drum.
Take the front off by using a putty knife to push in the two clips at the seam where the front meets the top while pulling on the top of the front panel. Now, with the washer empty, take the small hose off the left side of the tub and clean out the gunk that is in the last few inches of the tube. Also, poke a thin wire into the nipple the tube came off of on the tub. Replace tube and front panel. Done.

The water level shut off on my washer has all raised. The small load is about the middle now. the large load is near the top and the jumbo load floods. What do I do?

Pump out water. Remove front panel by pushing in retaining clips (2) at the very top seam, where the front panel meets the washer top. Pull thin "clear" hose off left front side of outer tub. Clean the gunk out of the thin hose. Re-assemble. To prevent this from re-occuring, use a washer cleaner, such as Affresh, Waher Magic, or Whirlaway hot tub cleaner every 3 or 4 months.

Whirlpool top load washer won't wash after filling

The hinge on the left side activates the lid switch. The hinge will have to be repaired or replaced.

Use a putty knife or a old CD to slide under the control panel on the right and left sides, where the control panel front meets the washer top.
This will release the clips that hold the control panel to the top cabinet.
Fold the cabinet to the rear.

Unplug the lid switch in the top of the cabinet on the left side.

Remove the brass clips holding the cabinet to the rear panel.
The cabinet will come off so that you can access the underside for the hinge and lid switch.

How do you get the front off the maytag mav8601aww?

If you have the top loader, there is 2 clips on the left and right wher the front panel joins the top section. Push a flat blade in one side while trying to lift the top at the seam, it should pop open. If you raise the top there is 2 screws top left and right of the front panel inside remove these and lift the front panel up and away.

Washer tank will not hold water

You can remove the front panel by using a putty knife to push in on the two clips in the seam at the top of the front panel. Your model number is most likely on the sticker on the very back edge of the washer, as you look over the back of the washer.

GE WJSE3110A washer, won't drain

On a scale of 1 -10, I'd rate this about a 3.5 in difficulty.
Un plug machine.
Use a putty knife to push the clips in at the seam of the front panel and the washer's top, about two inches in from each side to allow you to pull the front panel forward and then lift it off the bottom pegs.
If you took off that drain hose, you shouldn't have any water left in the machine, so take the two squeeze hose clamps off the pump hoses, the electrical wires off the pump, and the two 3/8 size bolts holding the pump to the washer's base.
Now check to see if the pump is plugged or obstructed with an object. Replace pump with cleaned out or new pump as necessary.

Flooding everywhere

You are right. Sounds like the washer is not being told to shut off. If the washer will stop filling when the power is shut off to it: Open the front panel by using a putty knife to push in on the clips about two inches in from each side at the seam of the front panel and the washer top. Tilt washer front panel forward and lift off bottom pegs. Pull the tube off the outer tub at the left side, cut off and inch and a half, poke a thin wire into the hole on the tub end and remove, then put the tube back on. (do this with the tub empty) You can only do this one or two times before the tube starts to get too short, so from now on, every two or three months, fill the machine to the lowest water level with hot water and several cups of bleach and run a cycle, including rinses, to help prevent the goop from reforming in the tube area again.
If machine still fills when power is off, replace water valve.
