Viking gas cooktop vgsu161-6b sparks continuously. There is no gas leaking. I spilled water on the controls and it is only when I turn on the 3rd knob from the top that this happens.

The water that you spilled onto the cooktop has shorted out the ignition switch in the gas control knob. Don't worry though no permanent damage has been done. Leave it unplugged from the electrical outlet for a day or two until the liquid dries out. You can manually light the burners with matches or a BBQ lighter in the meantime. If you want to try and speed up the drying process you can use a hair dryer.

Viking 30" gas professional series cooktop sparking problem

And before that Most likely one of the ignition switches (they are under knobs) got shorted possibly due to spilled liquid or a cleaning stuff sprayed on. In that case it should stop sparking after a switch drys. Still no go replace the spark control unit.
