I am dealing with this exact problem. I disassembled the part and found a mysterious (to me) disk of something with silver plating on both sides. One side had the plating corroded off where the contacts from the input wire touched it.. I will be looking for the part in Puerto Rico tomorrow. Wish me luck. I am thinking that if I can not find the exact part, perhaps I can find one the same size and remove the disk and replace the defective disk in my part. Anybody know what the little disk does?

Haier model #hvw18 wine cooler does not turn on

The compressor is what causes your cooler to cool down. If the compressor is not working properly, it could cause temperature issues. The compressor may, for some reason, not be getting enough power, and it is not starting properly. Alternatively, it may be overheating, causing it to malfunction.

Compressor seems bad

HI sally.well wine coolers r not rocket science.your local engineer should be able to at least diagnose the problem...lets c if u can do it ok?(still getting power )u mean light comes on or u mean it runs but dont get cold?well haier is not the best but if it's done 7 years is not bad:).ok...1-check if it makes any noise or is completely quiet.if no sound feel the motor (compressor).hot or cold.if cold it could be the thermostat or motor.if hot running or not it could be refrigerant or motor.needs visual.hope this helps.ALI

It just stopt cooling ([email protected])

Hello,

Turn the temperature dial to the lowest temperature setting. Wait 24 hours for the wine cooler to reach the desired temperature. Also, turn the wine cooler off and inspect the fan. If the fan if it's running or not.

Lastly, check the compressor.

These are the areas that could make your wine cooler stop cooling; the temperatue settings (Thermostat), then Fan and the compressor.

Check these three areas and let me have a feed back.

Bye for now.

Power surge caused wine cooler to quit cooling

Power surges, spike and brown-outs are a nemesis to small refrigeration units. The capacitor for the compressor likey was affected and possibly the start components in general, especially if the unit was operating when the surge occured.

THE UNIT DOES NOT COOL ANDY COLDER THAN ROOM TEMPERATURE.

does the compressor run ? if so you could have a low refrigerant charge, a sealed unit resrtiction, leak or defective compressor.

I have a Haier Model BD00T0E0200 that is getting power, the compressor is warm to the touch, is clicking occasionally, but does not cool. Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome to Fixya. I am Kelly

First of all unplug the unit for at least 30 minutes and let the compressor cool off. That clicking your hearing is the "KliXon" thermal overload trying to protect the compressor because it is not starting.

Failure of a compressor to start can be caused by several things.

1. A bad PTC Relay / KliXon mounted on the compressor
2. A bad run capacitor
3 The bad news... a LOCKED rotor in the compressor.

There is one other possibility and that is that the power cord plug is not making good contact with the wall outlet terminals. (very rare that this happens)

Just make sure to unplug the unit for at least 30 minutes. Use a fan for cooling the compressor if you can by just pointing it toward rhe area of the compressor. After 30 minutes plug the unit back in and cross your fingers...... If it starts your in luck... If not then your going to need to service the unit.

Again thanks for using Fixya and if you need further assistance just reply here. We get notified of all responses. Kelly

Making clicking sound motor gets hot but not cooling

Your PTC relay on the compressor is bad needs to be replaced.

First be sure to unplug cooler. Remove the cardboard cover that covers most backs of the units. Remove the plastic cover that is on the side of compressor. It is held on with a metal clip. Now you should be able to see the relay pry the relay straight off. note the wiring and position of relay. Only three prongs on compressor. Go to a parts house for appliance's and with your make and model number should be able to get a new one. Let me know if you need any more help. ken
