Finally got camera recognized after an hour of searching for and downloading drivers from web... now, it can't find pics IN camera...... don't know how much more time I can devote to this. At this rate, might as well just get my 9 year old a real digital camera.

My daughter just received one of these camera's for her 6th birthday and is extremely excited. I am running Windows XP and was getting the "No pictures on camera" error. I tried downloading the drivers for this but that did not work. Here is what I did to get the camera working:

1) Connect the camera with the provided USB cable.
2) Download the latest driver from the Digital Blue web site: http://digiblue.com/customer-service/downloads/index.html, select the "The Disney Pix Micro Drivers for WIN ME, 2000, XP"
3) Install this driver, this will not enable the camera to work yet.
4) After this driver has installed, go to Control Panel
5) Select System
6) Select the Hardware tab
7) Select Device Manager
8) Find the device in the list (mine said "USB Digital Still Camera"), will probably have the yellow exclamation mark on it saying that it is not working.
9) Double click the device
10) Select "Reinstall Driver" from the General tab
11) When asked if Windows can connect to Windows Update to search for software, select "Yes, this time only" and click Next.
12) Choose "Install the software automatically" and click Next.
13) You should get a message saying the driver for the "DB CIF Cam" has not passed the Windows Logo testing, select "Continue Anyway".
14) Click Finish.
15) The first time I did this, I needed to take a picture while the camera was connected to the PC.

After doing this I am able to download the pictures and everything works great. I hope this helps.

Hello Everyone. I was having the same problem and I found a solution for me. The driver that came with the camera was not the right one. In my case I use Windows Vista and it was not working. The picture Downloader would say "No pictures found" or something like that. So I found the company that makes this cameras - it is called Digital Blue. So I went to their website and found the updated drivers. After installing it, everything worked ok.
So the link to their download area is:

http://digiblue.com/customer-service/downloads/index.html

There you will find all the drivers you need. I hope you can solve your problem.

Best Regards,

Wagner

A common problem is often the privileges associated with the account. If the software is run within a limited account, it can't connect and find photos from the camera. Easiest fix is to run the software from the administrator's logon instead of a limited user logon.

Well i emailed the manufacturer and this was the response i was given.

Hi,
This error typically occurs when the device drivers for the Pix Micro are not properly installed. The steps below will help you manually install the device drivers.

Solution #1:

Open your “My Computer”
Insert your Pix Micro disk into your CD-ROM drive
Now you will see that your CD drive changed to say PixII
Right click on your CD drive
Left click on the option that says “Explore”
A window will pop up with three folders in it: "Camera", "Pix", & "Micro"
Double-click on the camera folder
After clicking, you will find a utility application named CameraDriverSetup.exe
Please double-click on this utility

You may get a message: “Do you want to remove the selected application and all of its components?”

Click “OK”.
Now run the application again.
After it installs the application installs the drivers.
It will ask you to restart your computer. Please save any documents you are working on and do so.

Solution #2:

If using Windows Me:
1. Click on Start > Settings > Control Panel.
2. Double-click on System.
3. Click on the Device Manager tab.
Continue to step 6..

If using Windows 2000 or Windows XP (classic view):
1. Click on Start > Settings > Control Panel.
2. Double-click on System
3. Select the Hardware tab.
4. Click on the Device Manager button.

Continue to step 6...

If using Windows XP (XP style category view):
1. Click on Start > Control Panel.
2. Click Performance and Maintenance.
3. Click System.
4. Select the Hardware tab.
5. Click on the Device Manager button.
Continue to step 6...

...Continued from all OS's:
6. In the device manager you will see the list of all the hardware attached to your computer.
7. Expand the ‘Imaging Devices' by clicking on the ‘+' symbol if not already expanded.
8. Under Imaging Devices there may be two unknown devices with an ‘!' on them, they may be labeled ‘USB Digital Still Camera', double click on them to open the properties menu for the device.

If there is not a 'Imaging Devices' category check under 'unknown devices', ‘Other Devices', or 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers'.

9. In the device properties window click on the Tab labeled ‘Driver'.
10. Next click on the ‘Update Driver' button.
11. Now select ‘Install from a list or specific location' and click Next.
12. Now check the box labeled ‘Include this location in the search'.
13. Then click browse and Expand My Computer > Pix 2 (or your CD drive) and click OK.
14. Now click next on the Hardware Update Wizard window.

The Disney Pix Camera driver is now installed properly. You may close any windows that are open and open Download software from the shortcut on the desktop.

Best Regards,
Digital Blue

Software driver

i had the same problem with my camera too but i emailed the manufacter and this is what they sent me:
Hi,
Thank you for your interest in Digital Blue. Please unplug the camera from your computer and follow the steps below.
  1. Open the Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories. Right-click on 'Command Prompt' and select "Run As Administrator...".
  2. This will bring up a window saying 'Windows needs your permission to continue', please click on the 'Continue' button.
  3. When the DOS window opens, type in (without the quotes):
    'cd c:\windows\system32'
  4. The above should change the command prompt to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32:.
  5. Now, type in (without the quotes): 'regsvr32 vbscript.dll'
    (dll = dynamic link library)
  6. You should see a window pop up stating 'DllRegisterServer in vbscript.dll succeeded.'
  7. Please insert the software CD with version 2.2.0 into your CD/DVD-ROM drive.
  8. This will bring up the auto-play for the install, please follow the prompts to go through the installation.
  9. The install consists of three different software packages, you should see the Pix 2.2, Pix Loader or Pix Micro Downloader, and the DB CIF Cam being installed.
  10. If you receive an error after the Pix 2.2 install, you will need to download the drivers and Downloader program from our website at http://digiblue.com/customer-service/downloads/index.html You will need to select the 'Disney Pix Micro Downloader' and 'Disney Pix Micro Drivers for WIN Vista'.
  11. Once you have installed the drivers and downloader program you will be asked to restart your computer. After the computer has been restarted, plug the camera into the USB port and look to see that the computer says the drivers have been installed.
  12. Open the Pix Loader or Disney Pix Micro Downloader from your Desktop or from the All Programs list and click on the Download button. If you have a 'Pixel Up' window pop up, click OK, and wait for the download to finish. A 'Delete' button will come up on the Downloader program which will indicate the download has been completed.
  13. You can view the photos by going to 'My Pictures' > 'My Snapshots' or using the Pix 2.2 editing software.
HOPE THIS HELPS!!!
