Nikon s9300 - When I turn it on, the lense fully extends, but the screen stays black. I have to pop the battery out, then put back in for the lense to retract. Battery is fully charged and even tried

When the battery is fully charged, please put it in again. That means, if it is still in, remove it once again.
Switch it on, and even if you don't see a thing try to make a picture.
Then press the display button several times, to see if anything comes on the screen again.
If the camera does not respond after that, you should go back to the dealer, of contact Nikon.

I have a Nikon coolpix S210. When I try to turn on....the lense wont move and then the screen shows lens error. I cant do anything but turn it off.

Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to lens error problems can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some last resort troubleshooting steps that you can try that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try.

I Have a Nikon Coolpix S210, the lens is stuck in the extended position and I have no pictures on the screen. I have at times seen that when I turn on the camera and the power light is on, it tries to...

Here are some ideas. Once I solved such an issue on a camera that had fallen down on a hard floor (by applying force on the lens to make it retract)..but please read everything here first *before* you try that:

My coolpix S210 lense will not go in. Showing lense error on scr

Hi,

Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended. If the camera is still under warranty, before trying any of these, please please first contact your camera's maker to see if they'll cover the repair, or to determine how much they'll charge for the repair. Who knows, you might get lucky. But if they quote you a number that's higher than the value of your camera, you may want to consider the following methods.

Place the camera flat on its back on a table, pointed at the ceiling. Press and hold the shutter button down, and at the same time press the power-on button. The idea is that the camera will try to auto focus while the lens is extending, hopefully seating the lens barrel guide pins in their slots. Blow compressed air in the gaps around the lens barrels with the idea of blowing out any sand or grit that may be in there jamming the lens. Other variations include blowing with a hair dryer in “no heat” setting, or sucking the gaps with a vacuum (careful with this one).

Thank you!

Coolpix S210 Lens Error

Mine did this. I assume the lens won't pop up as it normally did?

To fix mine, I wedged a small screwdriver into the lens and then turned it on, gently nudging the lens out. It worked great and I haven't had the issue again yet.

Just a little help is all it likely needs to pop that lens out.

Nikon Coolpix camera lense wont retract :(

You can send the camera directly back to Nikon for an estimate. If you bring it to the store they will add on the cost for their time. Call Nikon to find their nearest service center.

For any problems on these cameras, they will need factory service.

You may find that servicing the camera will be near to the cost of replacing it, unless it is a very expensive model.

Lense error

try these:-
  • connect it to pc and on it
  • vaccum the barrel of lens
  • changing mem. card and batt. for 2min.
  • shake it.
  • on and off in different positions
  • hit the part near lens softly with palm (trust me this made mine work)
