First make sure it is not plugged into an extension cord. Low voltage could cause this type of problem. If you have it plugged directly in ,It is probably the compressor or overload relay on the compressor. You can bypass the thermostat to see if it is the problem, by first unplugging the device, then removing the wires from the thermostat, and jumping them together. Then plug it in If it still acts the same way the problem is in the compressor or overload relay mounted on the compressor. Sometimes the relay can be purchased and replaced or a hard start might work solve your problem.
HI sally.well wine coolers r not rocket science.your local engineer should be able to at least diagnose the problem...lets c if u can do it ok?(still getting power )u mean light comes on or u mean it runs but dont get cold?well haier is not the best but if it's done 7 years is not bad:).ok...1-check if it makes any noise or is completely quiet.if no sound feel the motor (compressor).hot or cold.if cold it could be the thermostat or motor.if hot running or not it could be refrigerant or motor.needs visual.hope this helps.ALI
Small refrigeration units like this one like to fail to cool by developing a small leak and slowly leaking refrigerant. THERMOSTAT FAILURE CHECK: A technician will check the thermostat using using a DMM (digital multimeter). But you can suspect the thermostat if you set the thermostat high and the compressor motor does not run, then set thermostat low, and the compressor motor also doesn't run - in other words, the thermostat is failing to start the refrigerator's refrigeration system no matter what its setting - an obvious failure of the thermostat. COMPRESSOR FAILURE CHECK: If the compressor is dying, you would hear the compressor running almost constantly, but not sounding quite right (uneven noise, clunking, tapping). REFRIGERANT LEAK CHECK: If you unit is low on refrigerant (due to a leak), the compressor motor will be running almost constantly, but it will sound Ok.
Possible bad thermostat. Bypass the thermostat wire to run the compressor. If the compressor start, replace the thermostat.
On the other hand if the compressor is running, and there is no cooling; there is a leak and all the refrigerant probably escaped. If it is the case, you need to call serviceman and have him evaluate the wine cooler for possible repairs.
P.S. The serviceman may charge a fee for evaluating or estimating the cost of repairs.
Hi, could be faulty thermostat, can you check compressor, is compressor running (working), listen to compressor for clicking sound, unplug it(switched off) for about 20 minutes, replug and let it run (work) for another 20 mins. see if temp. drops, what about temp. inside bottle (wine) cooler, is it 98 or colder, more info. could be valuable. check thermostat, check to see if compressor operates, if cooler temp. 98. remove you products, to another cooler, call mechanic.
if the motor are running the gas level are too low . if the motor are not running check the thermostat. if there are power by the motor and stil not running then it is the motor
Few things to check here. If the compressor is not running then the problem may be a bad thermostat or the compressor start device (ptc starter). Most common would be the thermostat on wine coolers. Also need to check if the fan is running. If everything is running then you have a sealed system problem. If the fan is the only thing that is not running that will cause a no cool situation.
