My HP DesignJet 330 prints for the first 6" of 24x36 paper. Then the led lights start to flash. The printer keeps going, yet no ink goes on the paper

Put in new ink cartridges.

Printer will not waste paper starting to print but unable to complete printing.

1- CHUECK THE HARDWARE OF PRINTER SHAFT

2-THE INK VAT PAPER HAS BEEN TORED

A clog print head noozle sometimes the cause of this problem, so try to clean it and try plug again

Probably a bad trailing cable. I've seen it many times.

The flashing lights signal an error. If the printer started printing, please check for jammed paper. If it has not started to print, please remove the ink cartridges and then put them on again. They might just failed to be charged by the printer unit.

Glad you mentioned Autocad has a printer/plotter setup setup

When the orange light is flashing, either paper jam or ink problem is happening.Try unloaging & reloading the stack of paper in the main tray. Remove & reinsert ink cartridges in the printer. You may also clean the contacts of the cartridge and inside the product.

The sad part unfortunatly is that the sensor on the carrage is below minimum specification. The only solution is to change the carrage as a unit P/N C4713-60039 and its going to be expensive. Normally the carrage belt would be replaced at the same time.

This may or may not work on your model

"Press and hold the paper feed, paper switch and the power switch.

Once the power light and paper light flashes twice and the other lights are flashing release the paper feed and paper switch "and then press the paper feed switch".

The power, paper and ink lights will flash twice. At this point the protection counter has been reset."

The Protection Counter referred to above prevents you from printing once the printed pages counter reaches a predetermined threshold.

This usually is solved by removing and reinstalling the ink cartridges...make sure the electrical contacts are clean (use a dry paper towel) on both the print cartridge and the carriage.

If the error still happens then the carriage or trailing cable are bad and will need replaced.
