How do I put the back of the wrist watch on. - Timex 1440 Nylon watch

1. Take the watch off your wrist and turn the watch so that the back of the watch is facing up.

2. Use a watch case opener or a small flathead screwdriver to remove the back of the watch.

3. Carefully take out the old battery and discard it properly.

4. Insert the new battery, making sure the plus and minus signs line up with the corresponding symbols in the watch.

5. Securely close the back of the watch.

6. Put the watch back on your wrist and you're done.

The local SEARS store has a watch-repair department.

The jeweler should be able to put the back on again. He/She has the tools.

There are tiny pins either side of the wrist band next to the clasp. Remove these pins and you can take out up to two links (and a half link on some models.)
A jeweller could do it, needs a special tool to tap them out and put them back

mcdevito75 here, I would imagine your Rolex is an automatic, not all Rolexes are. After 2 days not running at all your Rolex needs a very good start not just putting it on and that"s it. Sorry to say!, I would ask you to do this, With your watch close to your ear I would like you to wind the watch, listen closely, if you haer a clicking or a drag sound you know you have to give about 20 winds to your watch before you put it on, after the 20 winds the automatic takes over. If the stem just spins and no sound, Click or drag, then your rolex is fully automatic, after you put it on you"ll have to ttwist your wrist back and forth to get the automatic moveing to wind your watch somewhat. Twist your wrist back and forth maybe 20--30 times, this way your watch has an initial wind and as you wear it the winding continues with the motion of your wrist, after it"s wound pretty good if it stops and goes, have the watch serviced.

Two words: Wind it! When any self-winding (automatic) watch runs down from not wearing it you have to manually wind it to get it going again. Once you've done that the movement of your wrist will cause the self-winding rotor mechanism to keep it running as long as you are reasonably active and wear it everyday. Just wind it about 40 turns and you'll be good to go. Oris is a great watch company and you should enjoy it for many years.

Measure the watch band's length. Every wrist size is different, and there's no need to remove all of the links when you may only need to remove one or two. Putting the watch around your wrist and pinching each link around it to see how much room you need gives the jewelry wearer a reasonable estimate.

Step 2 Open the watch near the link you want to remove. Link watches have several openings, so even if you open the wrong clasp, it can always be reattached.

Step 3 Flick the tip of your fingernail inside the clasp to open the extra links. Continue doing so until you have removed all of the links that are too big for your wrist. If you have short fingernails, try using tweezers or anything with a sharp edge that can easily unfasten a link. New watches tend to be very stiff, so it may take a little nudging, but the links come off. It will be obvious which ones come off and which ones don't by looking at the back of the watch band. The links that come off have a claw on the tip of each one and sometimes have the brand name on top of it.

Step 4 Put the extra links in a safe place. There may come a time that you either let someone else borrow the watch or your wrist swells and you need these links again.

• If you can't get the links to open, visit a jewelry repair store. Workers there may be willing to help you adjust your watch for free. If you bought the watch from a retail store, the jewelry counter is usually required to adjust your watch for no additional cost.

No, you do NOT need a spec tool. All you have to do is to reassemble watch strap completely(with all the bits and pieces, insl. wings, armour,etc).

The easiest is to bring it to Wal-Mart, or another store with a watch section in their store, if you buy a new wrist band, they;ll put it on for free. If you're feeling DIY, pull the watch band to the side, untill the metal bar inside is ejected form the slot in the watch, from there, insert the new band's bar into the slot, and voila!
