Hello, I'm looking for some power supply to provide efficient surge protection for my PCs. I had 3 blackouts during worktime at home and I'm afraid they're gonna continue to appear next weeks too.

Can you recommend me some devices?

Many people complain that their television or electronic appliance got “burnt” as the voltage shot up suddenly. By saying “burnt” they obviously don’t mean that it was caught up in flames, but they refer to a very common phenomenon of an appliance becoming non-functional all of a sudden due to a drastic fluctuation in the incoming voltage. When the voltage increases abruptly to a very high value for a very short span of time, it is referred to as voltage surges.

SOURCE: Battery/Surge outlets not working...

Sounds like the UPS battery is bad, or the circuit break on it has gone. Is there a reset button on the UPS? Do you have the program that came with the UPS to check the battery status, those programs typically let you run a test on it also.

SOURCE: T2085 will not turn on

Obviously you have tried change of power cord, move the pc to another power outlet or test the one you are plugged into with a desk lamp or hair drier or whatever.. Also, some pc's have an on/off switch at the back of the box, especially if it's a tower pc, check that first.

Now, do you have access to another PC? Because it's easier to check this web site out, to see how to replace the power supply.. If not, post here for more help. Rgds,

Sounds like you need an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). They will keep the fridge running for about an hour with no power at all and they also protect against brownouts, dirty power and surges.

I have a Turbo Air M3R47-2. How to prevent the chiller reverting to default temperature setting No.4 after electricity goes and comes.

My first thought was just that you need an Uninterruptible Power Supply which uses a battery and inverter to maintain the power in milliseconds. However, this is a full size commercial fridge like I use in commercial kitchens!

https://turboairinc.com/products/m3r47-2-n/

The specs say it is 115v/60/1, NEMA 5-15P, 2.8 Amps, 1/3 HP, so it is well within the capabilities of a larger UPS. This will work, it is 5 amps.

Power supply malfunctioning

Most surge protection power boards will protect computer equipment from mains spikes and surges.
A better and more expensive solution is to use an uninterruptible power supply (UPS). These units provide surge and spike protection and also provide power in the event of mains power failure.
Make sure you select an UPS model that meet the power requirements of all your computer equipment that is connected to the UPS with a mains down time of say 1/2 hour to give you time to shut down your computer in an orderly manner.

Our electricity went out for a few minutes, and since then the TV will not turn on. The green light is flashing. We tried resetting it by pushing a pen point into the reset hole, but it does nothing. ...

Your power outage may have been caused by a nearby lightning strike, or any number of
1000 different reasons that cause power surges, brown-outs, voltage spikes, inductive loading,
and/or utility pole breaker trips and resets (this accounts for your power loss (a pole breaker trip),
followed by restoration of power (the pole breaker automatically reset) - even plain old high electrical demand causing an overload due to air conditioning demands caused by hot weather.
When the pole breaker reset, your TV caught a power surge.
Whenever a power outage occurs, quickly power off (or better, unplug) any/all computers, TVs,
etc. that are not protected by surge-protection.
As an electrician, when someone loses an item of electronics concommitant to an electrical
anomaly, its almost
always traceable to a nearby lightning strike (or the power company provided equivalent), accompanied by inadequate surge protection for
the VCR/TV/Computer/Stereo/uninsured valuable electronic item/XBOX 360/Nintendo Wii.
Surge protection can
be provided by the consumer at the power strip (a good one with builtin MOV protection and a
warranty costs $20, whereas a zero-protection 4-outlet or 6-outlet power strip will cost $4-$5).
Your electrician can provide whole-house surge protection where a whole-house MOV-based (metal oxide varistor) surge protector, or per-circuit protection can be installed with
a GFCI breaker (or better, an AFCI breaker) can be installed.
GFCI = ground fault circuit interruptor
AFCI = Arc fault circuit interruptor
Lightning protection is especially important in Florida, which is the "lightning capital of the world."
I've never found a good solution to lightning-fried electronics (random power supply components are destroyed and/or fuse blown), other than renters insurance or homeowners insurance.

Your only real hope for an economical fix is to look for a blown fuse, and replace it.

If desperate to attempt a fix on your own, you could try replacing the entire TV power supply as a module, but even this provides
no guarantee of a fix - lightning damage can extend beyond the power supply.
When traveling, I will always unplug everything before I leave (except the security system),
and also turn off the breakers to unneeded house circuits (which kills the wall switches that
control interior lighting - forcing a burglar to use their flashlight instead of interior lighting)
which is the least convenient lightning protection, but highly effective, and cheap (free).

After a lightning storm my bosch single 30" wall oven displayed an F03 err. I turned the power supply off at the breaker for one minute as directed by the oven's manual. This action did not...

Find out what the F03 error is for and then check out the appropriate area. If there was a strike of surge the most likely place to look for damage is the area where the electricity first enters into the device.

Hello i have a samsung AH64-04012C home cinema. Now it gives HELLO PROTECT can you help me with this problem?

Protect mode on any amplifier is a safeguard to stop too much current from being draw by either the power supply or by the power amplifier. Please disconnect all speaker outputs and turn the unit back on. If the protection does not turn on you may have either a shorted speaker or damaged speaker wire that is causing the load on the power amp to be too low which causes much more current to be drawn from the power supply. If the power supply itself is bad you could be in some trouble if you cannot troubleshoot down to board level. Most power supplies in home theaters today are switching supplies. They employ what is called a PWM or pulse width modulation scheme. This supply compared to that of a standard transformer and rectifier setup is much more efficient but at the same time is much more complicated. The AC input voltage switched on and off by a given duty cycle generated from a frequency reference inside the PWM. The power mosfets are what supply the high DC current to the power amplifier. If one of these MOSFETs is damaged it will also give you a protection error.

Not coming on at all. lost it when rolling blackouts during freeze

most likely its a goner when rolling black outs occur you can bet on there being power surges so to prevent that from happening again you should always have all your important and sensitive equipment connected thru a surge protector and not a power strip or the wall protection and prevention save lots of headaches :) i hope this helps

Advanced power options settings UPS for blackout buster?software

I have to answer this question with just plain old common sense. Get a new one! This is crazy. If you get a new one, you will have a better, more upto date and something you can handle with todays OS and obviously new batteries. That is too old to mess with. I fixed a powerware once and the plastic was falling apart and the PC board was held together with a rubber band. Not worth it.

No stable picture, due to power surge.

You have an impending power supply failure.
I would not leave the set on and unattended. There are mulitple protective measures against bursting into flame but I trust none of them completely.

I just answered a few other complaints similar to yours and pasted some of my response below-
-----
I'm afraid you are right suspecting the power supply; most modern sets use switching power supplies and they often fail when the source AC is screwy.
It might not have been the low-normal-low-normal swings but an unseen, short term surge that killed it.
The cycling is occurring to prevent a potential fire or more severe damage; a component has been whacked and the supply is detecting a fault condition, probably excessive current from some circuit.
I'm afraid you are stuck with a repair, if it was mine, I'd look inside first but some basic instruments are needed and technical background.

I highly recommend to homeowners that they install a 'whole house" surge protector. Especially in lightning prone areas.
With installation, around $200-300 US although an intelligent person can do it, it will require shutting down the home.

The surge protectors range from ~$110-200; most have a long warranty and many include insurance to cover items damaged despite the protection.
