SOURCE: I have 2 siemens circuit breakers that won't reset. How can I do

unplug the appliance that is overloading the breaker.
reset the breaker, plug in the appliance. if the breakers pops, then the appliance is the problem.
you may want to check the appliace manual and make sure the breaker is rated for the appliance you are using.

SOURCE: Breaker trips when pump is turned on

make sure the amperage on the motor doesn't need more than the breaker you have. it should tell you on the name palte or the manual how many amps it uses under a workload. if it's worked before this, then maybe the motor is seizing or has a short.

SOURCE: Frig keeps overloading circuit breaker, just repaced relay

I think the compressor has a problem with its internal running coil , or it's grounded.To check it you can disconect the power to the compressor and then turn on the breaker , and if doesn't tripped the breaker ,you know the compressor is bad.

Yamaha ef6300isde generator - 30 amp mode - flips to overload after about 5 to 10 seconds. Generator runs well and all other plugs work when switched to 120/240. Any ideas?

There are several types of overload to consider:
A. Catastrophic: something has gone very wrong. There may be a phase to phase short or two shorts to ground. This assumes you have an ungrounded system. With luck the main circuit breaker will open without destroying itself;
B. Steady state over current: The load on the generator is greater than the rating on the circuit breaker. Time to parallel in another generatoror shed load;
C. Transient over current: Suppose you were running two generators in parallel and one failed. The remaining machine may experience an over current condition that causes the breaker to trip. You can also have transient breaker trips upon activation of a large motor e.g., fire pump or bow thruster;
D.Thermal: There is a big difference in sea water temperature as you travel the world. It is possible to have an overload caused by the diesel engine's inability to shed heat in the tropics. Continued operation could damage the diesel engine. Again, parallel in another generator or shed load.

Centurion3250 generator will run but not power. Diagnosis?

If your generator engine is running but is producing no or low output, the circuit breaker is the first thing you should check. The breaker is a safety feature designed to automatically switch off if a surge of electricity or overload is detected. A surge can be caused by using a device that draws more power than the breaker is rated for, using multiple 'heavy load' devices at the same time, or if a short occurs within the circuit. Some breakers will have colored indicators to show if they have been tripped, but some will not give any indication at all. Cycle the breaker off and on and try the outlet again. If the outlet is still not working, confirm that the breaker is set to the on position and use a multi-meter to measure resistance on the lead wire connections on the inside of the electrical panel. If any resistance is read, than the breaker is good. If the meter reads 'OL' (overload) or Infinity, the breaker is bad and should be replaced.

When I plug in a tool, it runs fine, when I plug it into my house with the breakers all off, it blows the breakers on the generator? My Honda 2200 watt works fine this way?

I think there is overload .kindly measure ur load of consumption. Do not run the generator set with high load it can be cause of circuit breaker Tripp off .

Generator was running just fine. it's a bsv5500-w overloaded the unit by mistake. tested with meter and found 86 volts. shut unit down and now only puts out 5 volts on each leg

are you sure the breaker didnt trip when overloaded,as this is what the breaker is for and would explain the ghost voltage of only 5 volts at the outlet

Does generator need to be grounded

ALL AC electric needs a ground for safety and somewhere for the excess power to go, you dont want to hook one into your house with out a ground it will just overload circuits and throw breakers with a possibility of damaging electrical appliances, all you really need for a good ground is a 2 foot rod driven into the ground about 14-16 inches, or you can just use the one already around your home

I was running two sawzalls on my pmo43350 coleman generator .Now it stopped producing electricity. the engine runs great but no juice to outlets. ithink i overloaded it.

You may have overloaded it, and it may have been damaged.

Check your circuit breakers first. If there was an overload, they should have tripped if overload was long enough in duration and high enough in capacity.

If the breakers are good, then check your diodes and capacitor regulator in the end of the alternator. While you are here, check your brushes as well.

Do you have a manual for your generator?

Honda eu 6500 gen overload indicator light will not shut off

Check the Ground Fault Indicator circuit breaker for triping, and look for the high limit on generator. Reset the main breaker by triping it full right and then back. Vitally
