Sounds like a short to me, go over all connections and retape/crimp as needed. If that doesn't solve problem, go to speaker connections n check secure and not shorting. ....
Also sounds maybe like you have speakers connected in maybe 2ohm load instead of 4ohm. Lmk what u come up with.

There is a plug on the back called an IP-BUS. You should be able to hook the ipod directly up to that with a simple homemade adapter. I built one for mine and it works fine.

Shut it off then hold the function button, cycle through till you find your option to turn it on, the turn the radio back on and use you source button to change to CD, TUNER, and AUX
