If you were able to get it to work with one signal source but not another, the poblem may be with the foxtel cable rather than the tv. Was there a difference between the connection from the aerial antennae and the cable? Have you checked to make sure another tv works on the cable from that location?

Check the input fuse first. If it is blown, there will be some short inside the power regulator circuit. Usually Sony sets uses STR regulated power supply. You can see this STR, and Ic, screwed onto a heatsink. Replace it with a same type and number. Before replacing the STR, check the diodes used in that section for damage, mainlu zener diodes. They might get shorted along the blowing of the STR. Check that section throughly before resoldering the new STR.

if you have problem like this, change Q535 ( BU2508DX ), solder inductor L535 ( bad soldering ), measure D539 and change if is broke.
You must change Q535 even is measure OK I had two poblems one is 535 shortcut, and the secend Q was ok when I measure. Change in bout case.
