Microwaves are trapped within the oven cavity and do not enter the area outside of it. Metal reflects microwaves as does the mesh across the oven door. You can buy a strip of adhesive foam of reasonable density from your local hardware store which will serve the purpose.

The problem is likely on the control panel, which we repair nationwide for $39.95 postpaid. This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller. This often can affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inopoerable or stuck on. You will need to remove the oven from the frame, then remove the outer cover from the door.
Once the outer cover's off, you'll be able to see that door opening button presses against the door opening lever, which presses up on the door key/hook to open the door.
Usually the problem is a broken door opening lever.

Part # DE63-00204A looks like a valid Samsung part number but it doesn't show up anywhere, so it's likely a proprietary part made only for GE and not available separately.
You can see a helpful exploded view of this model here.
Then you can go here and enter your model number and come up with the parts list. This site has much better prices than GE.
Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove.
Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) that demonstrates how it's done.
Chances are you will end up having to but more than you want to, but not the whole door.
