I can't delete previous owner's songs on my Boss 1600 cd recorder. Is there a way to do this? Maybe restore factory settings? Any idea? Thanks Rod

"it never works"... this is NOT enough information for us. You are not telling us how the CD is tested. If you are testing it in a boombox type player, that is not a test. First thing is to look at the bottom of the CD to see if you can detect written tracks... with right lighting you can tell if it has been burned. REMEMBER that CD's, unlike phonograph records, are written from the middle outward. Many consumer players have trouble playing CD's that are written but not "finalized". If you CAN see written area (compare to unburned CD) then likely the burning is taking place, and the problem is the format is either not complete or incompatible with your player. Try reading the disk in your computer. Also you might want to visit the forums for the Boss/Roland workstations at VSPLANET.com.

Bounced trks 3&4 to 7&8 clicked on wav file button canceled says out of capacity

You have a memory problem. If you are using a flash card for memory or a CD drive or perhaps you have configured an external drive, you need to free up some space. Try deleting tracks or songs you don't need anymore.

Each song is independent on a CompactFlash
without affecting other songs. You can give a desired song name for managing recorded songs
(see pages 23 and 91).
Recorded track data is stored in a song as mono WAV files.
The MR-8mkII can convert the two WAV files recorded on tracks 7 and 8 (L and R) to a stereo
WAV file (see page 115).
You can export the converted stereo WAV file to your USB-connected personal computer, and
use the file by a music software application or make an original audio CD on the computer using
a CD burn software application. You can also burn an audio CD by using an external CD-R/RW
drive connected via the [USB HOST] port of the MR-8mkII (see page 115 and 123)

Hi. My boss br 1600 will n ot start. I turn on the power source and it will blink for a split second and then nothing. I checked for loose connections but everything seems ok. Any suggestions?

I have this problem with mine. I've did some research and with the boss br 600 this problem can arise quite often .it's caused by a faulty power diode apparently except in that case I've never heard ofrom the screen blinking at all (which my 1600 also does) I wonder I'd this problem can be the same for a br 600 as the br 600

I'm trying to burn a song to a CD-R using a Boss BR 1180 but every time it completes, there's no song on the CD. I record, bounce, record on 9/10, then try to write to CD and it never works.

My roland br 1600 cd rec.studio is just over a year old.I have 4 songs currently on it (80 gb) and it says HD full.It cant be full ....I cant work because of this error...

Yep... the hard drive is 80GB... so if you have 80GB of songs (not hard to do) it is full. Purge some off to make space. Those must be either long songs or have a lot of high frequency stuff using a lot of data to store them or a lot of tracks per song. For stereo recording two tracks using computer I chew up about 1 GB per hour. If you have armed more tracks this could really jump up... and these units may not be as efficient as the new software PC DAW's. I would recommend purging existing songs to a safe media and then reformatting/initializing the drive in the unit.

BR-1600 unit will not burn discs

You might go over to VSplanet.com and look in the forums there. They deal a lot with Roland digital recording workstations.

Hey i just got a boss br-864 and it was recording fine but now i cant seem to get rid of the distortion.Tried adjusting the input level and sensitivity but no luck.Would appreciate any ideas, thanks.

Troubleshoot. Try different cables, mics, instruments, etc to make sure that its the device and not something else.
Make sure you don't have any digital effects (compressors, guitar effect simulators, etc) activited.
See if there's a way to restore the device back to factory settings. Make sure you backup your recordings first.

I am getting "CD Write Error" on my BR-1180 when attempting to burn a track. It is sporadic; sometimes I get a burn, but lately it has increased and I have now gone through 15 cd's and getting this...

MICHAEL SCOTT: YOU PASSED ALONG SOME GREAT INFORMATION BUT IT ONLY GETS ME HALFWAY THERE...
I HAVE ALL THE NECESSARY CABLES HOOKED UP. DO YOU HAVE TO RECORD MY SONG FROM THE 1180 TO AUDACITY OR WHAT?...THIS IS ALL NEW TO ME AND IT MAY WORK BUT TELL ME HOW TO RECORD FROM THE 1180 TO AUDACITY.
THANKS...GEORGE SLADEK
