Mint Kodak 650H slide projector shutter door stuck closed. Both the remote and side buttons forward but won't reverse-both reverse buttons forward why ?

Removed btm case, the spring is attached to shutter door next to case wall. Noticed lots of tiny metal particles on various metal parts.

SOURCE: Kodak Carousel 760H wont advance or reverse

Yeah. I like the $15 fix better. Go to Ebay and search for "Kodak Carousel Projector Advance Repair Kit". Before you purchase you can diagnose, and it comes with detailed instructions. The same guy also has a kits for other common problems, as well as the "tune up kit". Or you can buy the Solenoid Link, directly and try it without detailed instructions.

SOURCE: Kodak Projector 760H. Carousel won't

Chances are that your projector has a broken solenoid "link". This "Link" connects the slide change solenoid and the slide change mechanism. Over time this part becomes brittle & cracks, rendering the slide change non-functional. A pretty easy fix for an authorized repair dealer.

SOURCE: Automatic slide changer is stuck in

The problem is continuous cycle (like you don't know that already...). It indicates that an adjustment to the cycle contact is necessary. To open the projector, first unplug it and remove the lamp module from the rear of the projector. Turn the projector upside down. Remove the 6 - T15 TORX screws from the bottom (5 around the perimeter and one in the channel next to the cord wrap). CAREFULLY pull the bottom off (the power wires connect the bottom cover & top together!!). Once you have it open, leave the projector upside down, put on your safety glasses & plug the projector into the wall. At the center of the projector you should see a hub rotating about every second or so. Above it you should see a "J"-shaped wire. See the attached illustration.
You will have to, in repeated steps, unplug the projector, bend the "J"-shaped wire GENTLY & SLIGHTLY, plug the projector back in and cycle it a few times. Check for the position of the "J"-shaped wire to the pad, and GENTLY repeat until you achieve the position shown in the illustration.
Good Luck !!jauburn_7.jpg

SOURCE: Kodak Carousel 760H wont advance or reverse

You have jammed the slide change mechanism. Turn the projector off. Remove the tray using the emergency release slot in the center hub of the projector. Turn the projector on and cycle it a few times in reverse, then in forward. That usually clears a mechanism jam.

SOURCE: Projector works fine, but will not advance slides.

Try a different tray (preferably a Kodak 80-slide tray). If it works, then the problem is a tray problem. If it makes no difference, check the "SELECT" function. If that works, then your projector requires an adjustment to the slide change mechanism. If it does not work, remove the tray and push the "REVERSE" button 4 or 5 times (this will clear a mechanism jam if one has occurred). If you still have nothing, then chances are that the slide change mechanism drive belt is broken or stretched. try the diagnostic things I suggested. If they are no help, I'm sorry to say you need the help of a factory-trained repair dealer. Good Luck !!

Fix focusing on ektagraphic remote control

Ektagraphic III A did not have remote focus. Someone has probably substituted a remote from a higher functioning model on this projector. The forward / reverse functions on the supplied remote will continue to function correctly, but the focus buttons will not.

Kodak 650H projector - will cycle when the button is pushed to advance, but doesn't stop when the shutter is open. Rather it seems to keep moving until the shutter is in the closed position. The slides...

Sounds like a timing problem to me.... There is an adjustment you can make, but it's a "trial & error" fix: you have to make an adjustment one way or the other in the camstack, and then see if it's worse or better (relative to a correct slide cycle). This adjustment is made with the projector upside-down with the bottom cover removed. Check out the attached picture for more detail on where & how to make the adjustment.

Kodak carousel 650h will not advance or go back. Not mechanically jammed. Doesn't respond to buttons either on main housing or from remote. Select button, fan and lamp all ok.

If the select button functions correctly, then it sounds like you have a wire broken or a wire nut that holds a bundle of wires together has fallen off. If it was the solenoid link, then the Select function would not work. After removing the bottom cover, look for the orange wires, That is the cycle circuit. Look for a broken or unattached orange wire from the side button and the remote receptacle.
The other possibility is that the direction lever is stuck, bound up or the direction lever spring is broken. The attached image of the top plate of the slide change mechanism will show you the end of the direction lever. It should move freely, up & down on its center pivot. You should see a small, wire spring, about 2-3 inches long on the lever. If the spring is not there, or the lever does not move freely, that may be the cause of no forward or reverse.

I have a Kodak 650H Carousel projector that I am repairing for a customer. This is my first Kodak projector repair, and so far I have succeeded in replacing the solenoid link (what a pain). After...

You are almost there!! the toughest part is done (the link!!). You need to loosen the screw on the solenoid plate that DOES NOT go through the black rubber grommets slightly and then put a flat-blade screwdriver in the adjustment slot & twist a little bit. Tighten, turn the projector right-side up, turn on (FAN position!) & try a couple of cycles. Repeat as necessary. It's a trial & error adjustment. I hope this helps !! Good luck !!

Just bought a kodak 650H slide projector and i put a tray with slides on the projector but it doesn't lock in or advance.

Chances are the projector you bought needs a slide change solenoid link or at the very least, an adjustment to the timing of the slide changing mechanism.

Slides will not advamce when you push lever. It is 50 yrs old.

The KODAK Carousel 4600 was manufactured from 1981 to 2004. If the tray won't advance with the push button on the projector, but will reverse, then it is a contact problem under the handle. If it doesn't cycle in forward OR reverse, but the "SELECT" feature does work, then there is a problem with the cycle (orange) wiring or the slide-change mechanism requires an adjustment. If forward, reverse and select ALL don't work, chances are the low-voltage side of the power motor is no longer providing the required voltage. An authorized repair dealer can help you sort this out.

We have a Kodak Carousel 650A projector. (140 slide carousel) Cannot advance the slides using the remote or the select bar. Putting in the individual slides with the carousel off the select bar will eject...

The purpose of the "SELECT BAR" on a Carousel 650H is to eject the slide. If you press & hold the select bar it allows you to rotate the tray to the slide you want (or Zero & remove the tray). If you can not advance or reverse the slide tray using either the remote buttons or the buttons on the side of the projector, then chances are you have a broken part in the slide change mechanism. The possibilities are numerous, and really requires a trained tech to analyze your specific failure. Sorry the news isn't better (or simpler!).

Have a Kodak 650H projector Little black door does not open and let light come through

There is supposed to be a spring on the shutter that snaps it open when a slide is in the gate. It sounds like that spring is either broken, unhooked or missing.

Need to make it advance automatically

Sure! Not only did Kodak sell an external automatic timer that plugs into the remote socket, a number of other companies had them as well. If you can't find one searching online for "Kodak slide projector plug-in timer", try: www.micro-tools.com Good Luck !

Projector broke

Given the age of the projector, chances are the cause of the problem is a broken "Link". The "link" connects the cycle solenoid plunger to the slide change mechanism. The "link" is made of plastic, and over time it gets brittle & cracks, rendering slide change non-functional. Parts are still available (www.micro-tools.com), but this is an involved repair that requires dis-assembly & a service manual - - best left to a factory-trained repair dealer.
