to replace the compressor you will need specialist equipment including an oxy set, pressure gauges and a bottle of refrigerant
the cost of replacing the compressor make a new fridge very attractive , as you will be told by fridge mechanics
just be very sure because a lot of apparent compressor problems are attributed to the start /run capacitor failure
I recommend a talk with a fridge mechanic to be sure before you open the system
You need to find out how much amperage the compressor pulls and make sure the wiring and breaker are sized correctly.
If they are sized correctly then you likely have an issue with the motor or the compressor itself causing the breaker to operate.
You left that question rather vague. Are you asking what material? or What size? I normally would run one size larger pipe size than the outlet on the tank, unless the distance is great. You would connect to the tank outlet which is usually 1/2 way up the side of the tank. Use only black iron or copper pipe, plastic pipe is not strong enough for compressed air. There is some plasic tubing rated for air, but that looks sloppy and isn't inexpensive eitehr. Also put a "FRL" between the compressor and piping (FRL=filter regulator lubricator).
I used to know all this stuff, the hardware store has a gauge guide to show you the correct size, i would guess that 8 would be ok, 10 would probably do it, hope this is right.
