How is your computer connected to the Syncmaster 23333? Is the computer on and sending a signal through the appropriate video output. Some laptops will disable their external video ports for power savings. You may need to enable the port using the laptop built-in screen. With most versions of Windows, right click on the desktop to find the Display properties. Desktops may have motherboard video outputs and a VGA card. The motherboard outputs will be disabled if the VGA card is active and vice versa. Make sure that your video cable is connected to an active port. Turn off the computer and monitor before moving the cables. Make sure that the monitor is on (even if sleeping) before turning on the computer. (This ensures that the computer will recognize the device.)

For most monitors, the PC Mode is the VGA port. If you have your computer connected with an HDMI video cable, the monitor will go to sleep (black screen) when no signal is received on the VGA port.

Please add a comment with more about your set-up for further ideas to get the monitor to work.

SOURCE: SyncMaster 932B blinks, then screen goes black

Check all the connections and if they are all right and tight then the monitor is probably shot. The good news is that it can be repaired. It's usually around $50.00 to $80.00 to fix. Good luck!

SOURCE: Samsung SyncMaster 713BM

Hey!

Follow the instruction below to solve your problem:
Restart your computer and enter Safe Mode (press F8 right as the computer starts booting up. Choose Safe Mode in the menu, press Enter twice).

While in Safe Mode, open Control Panel and go to Add/Remove Programs (Programs and Features on Vista/7) and uninstall the display driver software/drivers.

Restart your computer and boot normally. Now you should be able to see everything. Things might look bigger and uglier, that because there's no display driver installed. All you have to do now is reinstall the display driver. Use it's original disc or go to the manufacturer website and download the latest driver.

Good luck!
Pelu.

SOURCE: syncmaster 913v not optimum mode

I just resolved this problem for my SyncMaster 913N.
It seems to be a known issue, however it can take quite some time for the problem to occur. In my case about 3,5 years, so well out of warranty.

Short term solution: unplug your monitor from power. The switch on the front is not good enough. Pull the plug and leave it for an hour or so (all night if you can). Good chance the monitor will work next time you power it up.
The problem will is likely to come back..

Permant fix requires some basic soldering as per this video:

I just managed it and it has been ages since I soldered a resistor so you may very well be able to do it. I spent $25 on tool and part and saved me from buying a new monitor.

I have a hyundai monitor which keeps switching itself off Displays the computer screen then goes into energy saving mode after a second or so Help!

alastairhaig, Is unit 4 years old? Could be problem with units switch-mode-power-supply if same thing occurs when connected to fully functioning different pc that has all screen saver and power save features disabled. After screen goes "black" do you still see the WIN-desktop screen and icon's if you hold a bright flashlight at different angles about 1 inch from the screen? SEE = power supply in "partial shutdown" mode. NO SEE = smps in "full shutdown" mode. Do some reading in my fixya profile about "black screen of death" repairs. also read FIXYA profiles of "budmrtn" "buddymc" and other fine profiles of technicians here on fixya. You will truly be amazed when you visit YOUTUBE for video clips of owners/technicians who save their cold cathode fluorescent lamp, back-lit lcd monitors from the "trash-heap"!!! Samsung syncmaster 226BW fails to wake up.

If pc not sending it to "sleep mode" or "power save" mode, then unit may need help of electronics technician to investigate the "internal switch-mode-power-supply" that may be going into "shutdown" mode after it detects a "fault condition" with itself or onother circuit.

I have Samsung SyncMaster 2233BW 22 inch LCD Monitor, i used it for 3 months already. after sometimes it goes black after 1 second. i switch off and on but still it goes black after 1 second even the power...

nokerns, Internal ac to dc power supply problem might be cause of your "black screen of death" that plagues all brands of "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamp" back-lit lcd monitors. If unit is covered by Samsung warranty, then contact Samsung and complain about "premature failure" of the unit's power supply and see if they will do a swapout for same model unit. As a side-note, you should also learn how to do the "black-screen-of-death" flashlight test that every owner of a ccfl backlit lcd monitor should know how to perform and understand the results of the test. Do some reading in the FIXYA profiles of "budmrtn" "buddymc" "12fixlouie" and other lcd monitor tech's here on fixya and also view some DIY repair video clips on YOUTUBE. You will truly be amazed to find out how prolific the BSOD problem is in the lcd monitor industry. Please let other know what you will do to solve your monitor's problem by doing a reply to this response. If this was of some use to you then please rate this response on fixya. Bye for now. 12fixlouie

My SyncMaster 910mp LCD TV monitor switch thus not turn on. The green light bleeps and the screen goes blank. Can you help?

ritchaddison, Problem could be inside monitor. If "cold-cathode-fluoresscent-lamps" fail to stay lit. problem might be the "electronic ballast" circuit needs work done on it. Also check the "switch-mode-power-supply" for typical failure modes that result in "black screen" complaints. Remember this!! Your monitor no different than any other brand of CCFL back-lit LCD display in it's basic design and operation. Software not problem. Only you or qualified electronics technician will repair this unit. Read my and other LCD monitor tech's fixya profiles to make decision on what option you will use on 910mp unit. 12fixlouie

I had a similar problem with my LCD computer screen. I took it apart and noticed a capacitor that was raised up on the flat end and appeared to be leaking a substance. Replaced it with a similar capacitor and works fine, for three years now.

Samsung SyncMaster 17" LCD Blacks out

If you have a second monitor, you could use your computer until the monitor goes black... then plug in a replacement monitor. My guess is that one will display black too...

My gut feeling is that your VGA card is on the fritz... I'm not convinced it's your monitor. Do you have a replacement VGA card you can try? I'll bet that'll take care of the problem.
