Popping off when raised means springs need more tension. Height of door divided by circumstance of pulley and add a half turn. Should fix it

Without actually seeing the cables and springs, I would say the new springs are tighter than before and pull more weight slacking up the cables, it's very dangerous but if you put them on I'm sure you know that, but try to take some of the tension off the springs and then it will tighten the cables. Or you can adjust the door travel distance at the actual motor

SOURCE: How do you replace the cable that holds the door open

There is a plastic plug where the cable goes into the door. Take a putty knife or flat screw driver. slide it in between to plug and door. Then pop the plug out. The plug it's self is what holds the cable to the door. Do the same on the unit end. I use a putty knife because it's easier to get behind the plug.

SOURCE: Door keeps popping open, will not

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. As you have already replaced everything else so the issue is with the door switch going bad and should be replaced however, if that switch is fine then it is the control that is bad and should be replaced. Please accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

SOURCE: Kitchenade Dishwasher. Door keeps popping

Try adjusting the door catch, this is the hook that comes out from the top of the machine and clips into the door switch when closed, it can be adjusted further out by loosening the screw. If not then you may need to replace the door switch. This is done by unscrewing th front panel and removing it. The switch is held on by 2 screws and 2 wires. Hope this helps.

How do i keep the cables on my garage door from coming off when i raise the door

This is not the sort of problem that could be answered definitively based on a single photograph and two sentences of text.

I would be looking at the path that the cables should take, and at any evidence that one or more retainers or guides had torn loose.

Without knowing the manufacturer of the door and the contractor who installed it, it is almost impossible to give an explicit solution to this problem.

Fix broken garage door torsion spring

I would call a residential door company. Those springs are not something I would recommend the average homeowner to mess with. Sorry!

My garage door will not open but approx. 8" , no cable broken , chain on track. Today I found that one spring is broken. how hard is it to replace.

I have built many garage doors and installed many door openers. The typical garage door spring is not that hard to replace. I have to have 2 steel rods 1/2 inch in diameter to slowly tighten the spring.

I have a stanley garage door opener model 1200.51 which is chain and cable driven. The problem i am having is each cable came off and i want to know how to reattach them.

The most important thing is to understand that the door spring can KILL YOU. If you are not absolutely certain that you know what you are doing, call a garage door guy. Many poeple get SERIOUSLY hurt.

So, you need two perfectly fitting rods to fit into the spring tightening end of the spring..
Release all spring tension. Release the opener.
Level the door with shims if necessary.
Install the first cable and turn the spring main rod to hold tension.
Put a vice grip on the main rod to keep it from unwinding any more
Release the 2nd cable spool and thread the other side cable. Turn the spool to have the same tension as the other cable.
Then wind the spring about 6 revolutions. (35 flats or tool insertions).

Verfiy the cable is still threaded correctly on both sides.

Correct spring tesnion is when the door will stay at 1/2 closed.
REconnect the opener and good to go.

Have to hit the button on the opener about 10 times to get the door to go up. will open partially and stop. closes fine.

Check your door springs. You may have a broken spring. If not you can increase the up force. This is a control on the rear of the motor unit near where all those white go.

You may be in the beginning stages of a bad drive gear. Remove the cover and you will see it. It is white nylon and is just in front of the motor.

Garage door gears misaligned

I got it... I moved the take up wheels that the cable wraps around to their outermost position and it's keeping the shaft from moving. kinda scary though, I don't like working around those torsion springs.

Gaarage Door

Have you looked on both sides of the door at the bottom there should be cables. If they are not tight you probably have a damaged spring. Look up between the door and where the roller mounts are, there should be a tightly wound spring. This is what keeps the door up, if tension is lost then it will come back down. If it is broken it needs professional attention.

Garage door will open to sensor level and stop

You might have a broken spring. Check on the a the header above the door there should be a tude with a drum on each end and 2 springs (maybe one) towards the center. se if one of the springs has a gap (1-2 inches) in it. If it does you will nedd to cal a door company in your area. I recommend you replace both springs.
If you need to get you cars out some times you can help the operator to lift the door by lifting the door while the operator is lifting the door. Be very careful not to get your fingers in a pinch point and be sure to lower the door the same way.
