After unplugging the tv, hold and press the physical power button on your tv for about 30 seconds, that will drain most of the electricity stored in most of the motherboards components, however some energy will be stored in some capacitors; mainly on the power supply side but eventually they also will be depleted of it as well as time goes by.

to answer your question, it's a low risk repair .

SOURCE: LCD TV Has Sound, Backlights Work, but No Picture

I have been having the same problem with my LG. people say there are bad capacitors on the power supply board. I don't have the know how to replace them and don't have the money to pay. I can get mine to work by blowing hot air with a hair dryer into the back of my tv through the vents over the board. Heat it up for a couple minutes and turn it off and then back on and the picture comes back. I just never turn the set off now.

SOURCE: Vizio m550nv backlight won't work

This TV comes with a remote that connects to the TV via Bluetooth. It remembers which equipment is connected to the various inputs, and automatically changes the controls to match the input equipment - really nice! I found that it will control all my equipment, and since it works via bluetooth, you don't have to have direct line-of-sight to the TV. Wish that the bluetooth part worked for my satellite equipement too! Programmable remotes will operate this TV, but depending on how old they are, they may not be able to hit all the features of the tv - our older directv remotes will operate the basic features, but only the newer models will change the input source - so you may want to use the remote that came with the TV. We have smaller kids, and wanted to limit their use of the tv remote, because it has a slide-out keyboard similar to those on some cell phones to make posting to facebook (one of the apps that comes on the tv) easy. Since our youngest is 5, we thought it might be best to keep that remote out of harm's way.

SOURCE: Vizio VT470M no picture, no sound, no backlight. Power supply board looks good all voltages appear correct.

Im having similar problem and with my limited knowledge of lcd tvs and the voltages ALL being good except the pwr on or sw on voltage from the main board to the power supply which tells it to switch everything on Im guessing that something is going wrong on the main board. In the condition where it freezes it (the power on V) which switches everything on i get varied voltages such as 2.5 or 3 or (the normal 5v) and then when nothing powers up (blank screen) i read 0v on pwr on voltage but all my other voltages are corect (24v to inverter, 12 v to main board, 5v, etc.) Im guessing from researching this is that there is in improper voltage somewhere in the main board circuit. I have been unable to find it so i may order another board and post back.

Fault with its main board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ . In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

LED TV has sound but no picture, backlights are on, replaced T-con. It is the panel dead or could it be the main board?

Hi Pat, I'd test F1 on the tcon board to see if it's blown, if it tests ok try a main board, only way to know for sure if the main is outputting video to the tcon would be with a scope

Please help me find which TCL LE48FHDF3300ZTAAA board is at fault.

Fixya doesn't sell parts, we offer advice on how to repair your TV, best place to buy parts is shopjimmy.com. I'd start with a power board however it also could be the main, if a package is available I'd order that verses just one board

Hi, my 50inch polaroid led tv model p50led14 tv is not workin, wen i turn it on its just a blank screen, no sound ...u can see there is a back light on the tv but no picture. I have turned it off n on

Ok, it could be a couple of things. It could be the power board, it could be the main board or it could be the T-con board. Unfortunately to be able to diagnose any of these problems you're either going to need some very technical knowledge or a good working board to swap the ones in your TV out with to determine the problem.

Volume automatically goes to maximum on TCL TV

The volume (+) button on the TV is stuck or soiled if the volume automatically increases when the TV is turned on. To find out:
  1. Turn off the TV.
  2. Press and hold the volume (-) button on the TV then turn it on.
  3. If the volume doesn't automatically increase, you have a stuck button.
  4. If it does increase, you have a faulty key control board.
  5. In either case, you have to replace the key control board.
To find it out further:
Warning: Beware of electric shock. Please do not proceed if you do not have the skill to do the following.
  1. Unplug the TV.
  2. Let it stand for 15 minutes to allow voltages to drain completely to avoid the risk of electric shock.
  3. Remove the screws securing the TV's back cover and pull it off.
  4. Disconnect the cable that runs from the main board to the control key board.
  5. Turn the TV on using the remote.
  6. In this manner you can use the remote control to run the TV while waiting for the control key replacement board.
To do a hard reset of the TV, unplug it and let it sit for 2 hours or long enough to completely drain the internal voltages.
