Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, or the LED light stationery; the main board is faulty.

i want to know how to record a tv show through my satelite using my goldstar vcr and i dont have a remote control so i know i cant use the timer but i can record it manually ; i just dont know what inputs or outputs i need to use
SOURCE: I bought the Magnavox DVD/VCR
Connect the cable to the VCR cable input. Connect the small cable
provided with the VCR from the cable output on the VCR to the cable
input on your TV.
The VCR will most likely work on channel 3 or 4, so put your TV on
channel 3 and see if your VCR remote will change channels, if not try
channel 4. (your owners manual should tell you which channel to use).
Make sure that the VCR display says VCR and not DVD. If it says DVD, use the remote DVD/VCR button to change it back to VCR.
Press the Setup button and enter the time and date. Refer to the manual
to see how to set up the unit to automaticly record your programs for
you.
If you want to record now, insert a blank tape, change to the channel
you want and press record. Then press the TV/VCR button so you can
watch different channels while the VCR is recording your program.
When finished recording, put the unit back on channel 3 or 4 (which
ever your machine uses) and press the TV/VCR button to activate the
VCR. Press stop, rewind and play to start watching your recording.

The manual isn't too helpful either - "Recording error other than below," it says. There are a couple of possibilities. The Philips/Magnavox/Funai recorders automatically record in VR mode when you use +R discs (there are two possible recording modes - V Mode and VR Mode). Is it possible that you have switched disc types lately? If you are currently using -R discs, switch to +R and vice versa. The manual states that +/-RW discs take a while to initialize.
I couldn't find a full factory reset on that one, so you may have to unplug the unit for about 20 minutes to restore all the defaults.
Another possibility: Finalization requires some extra space on the disc. If you accidentally pressed the button that changes the recording format between SP, EP, LP, etc., you may not be able to fit the same amount of video on the disc that you were able to fit before. You can change the format by pressing the Disc Mode button on the remote - LP Mode will fit 3 hours worth of recordings onto a 2-hr disc and is considered a "medium quality" recording. Try changing the Disc Mode to LP and see if it will finalize the next disc that you record. The downside of this possibility is that the discs that you have already made that are giving you errors are not "fixable" - you will will have to re-record the shows to a new disc in LP mode.
Good luck!
