SOURCE: back lighting for my viper 479v remote

you have to go in to the proramming mode of the remote to change this feature. you can access this by holding all 4 buttons on the remote at the same time. (or if you have the P button on the back you can hold it down by itself) you will hear 2 long beeps confirming the programming mode. at this time, you can change the settings by pressing 1 of the 4 buttons., each button will change a different function.

in no order------
1. Beep/vibrate or both
2. page or not to page
3.back light
4. hood, truck, or both

the remote will give 2 long beeps when it exits the programming

Here's the Information you need, be certain you have the required module required for your Tahoe, they're nearly identical for 99-07 GM Trucks/SUVs, the link below deacribes an installation and should be helpful to you, see the attached wiring schematic for the placement of the lock/unlock wires. My viper remote beeps after any botton is pushed and the red light at the bottom of remote flashes.
the remote did not receive a signal back from the module or the module did not receive the remote signal
Check the battery connections there is a connector plug soldered on the board real close to where the battery is, and if it is hit by the battery hard enough it will cause those solder connections to disconnect and you will get the beeps and or other malfunctions

I think I messed up the remote programing.. When I press to lock the doors they do lock but the horn doesn't honk anymore.. The blue light on the dash does not light up either.. I can still remote...
If the led is solid blue when the key is out of the ignition that means your in valet mode. Which would disable the alarm, but not the starter.
Simply turn key to IGN position then back to OFF.Push the valet button which is on the antenna next to the led and the led should turn off.Close door on vehicle and lock vehicle.Siren should now chirp.

How to program viper 5701 remote
Unlock doors

I had a viper 5701 responder LE 2 way system installed on my 2006 dodge Dakota, everything works fine but my headlights and parks lights stay on constant while in remote operation and my park lights do...
If your vehicle has daytime running lights they will be on when remote started no real way around that try leaving your parking brake on.
The new vipers default setting is constant rather than flashing.
