Hi James, as The Knight says, the problem may be in the backlight or the circuit that feeds it
Your Sharp Aquos TV uses an LCD Panel lighting system with an LED device, which is located on the side and unlike the back lighting systems, where if an LED burns, the rest does not work
With your TV system, that does not happen, if an LED burns, a darker horizontal strip will appear, but the rest will continue to be seen
Therefore, it is more feasible that the power supply of the LEDs or a possible problem on the Main board or T-Con board is failing

Hola James, como dice The Knight, el problema puede estar en la iluminacion trasera o el circuito que lo alimenta
Tu televisor Sharp Aquos utiliza un sistema de iluminacion del Panel LCD con un dispositivo de LEDs, que se encuentra a un costado y a diferencia de los sistemas de iluminacion trasera, donde si se quema un LED, el resto no funciona
Con el sistema de tu TV, eso no pasa, si se quema un LED, aparecera una franja horizontal mas oscura, pero el resto se seguira viendo
Por lo tanto, es mas factible que este fallando la fuente de alimentacion de los LED o un posible problema en la placa Principal o Placa T-Con

Philips TV. was working fine but now picture fades to black. sound is on. If we turn unit off/on picture returns...but will fade again. can fade one minute later or ten minutes later...unit id about 5 years old. 29 inch. (tube flat screen)

Anytime an LCD has a shade of pink, that means the CCFL lamps are about to go out. Now that you have a black screen, I'd say you just need some new bulbs.

If you have sound on the stations this is a problem in the display. Take bright flashlight and hold it against the screen. Look for an image around the edge of the flashlight. If you see an image then it's one of three problems;
1) The inverter board is bad.
2) The CCFT (cold cathode fluoresent light) are bad.
3) The power supply to the inverter board is bad.
Someone knowledgeable in electronics can replace the bad part(s).

Your TV is overheating.. easiest remedy is to point a fan at the back of the TV or... clean the inside of the TV, Im sure its full of dust and stuff... this prevents air circulation inside the TV thus creating more heat...

This is due to the main av board having failed, The board number is.... J328FE16E Google or Ebay it to find a replacement, These are common for going and are easy to replace but finding one is the hard part!!
