Is usually a sign the washtub suspension is worn or broken.

SOURCE: drum off balance

It's either a bad suspension spring or you have a crack in the tub support.

SOURCE: Loud banging noise durning washing machine spin cycles.

First plug off the wall. Open the machine from behind to examine if any shock-absorbers(known as dampers) or springs have come off or broken. Your dealer could help with spares. But you could do the job yourself.

For spares:
RepairClinic.com (which is good)

SOURCE: top loader hoover 600mb automatic washing machine

If this machine has a motor that uses brushes, check them for damage, wear, or weak/distorted springs.

SOURCE: Hoover 600MB Top Loader, Won't Spin

I have the same problem. Just started missing the spin cycles and now I need to find which part to replace.
So far I think it could be: Aged contacts in the Timer, a faulty spin/no spin switch, or something to do with the brake/release mechanisms etc. ..I do know that the problem is electrical because everytime the motor starts the spin works fine; therefore eliminating in my opinion, the mechanical gearbox bits as a cause.

When spinning drum is slamming against washers sides. Can this be fixed

This would be an out of balance issue. Level your machine first and then make sure you load it evenly when adding clothes.

Final high speed spin very noisey

Something is causing the drum to be way out of balance. Does it bang and make noise when it's spinning empty? Probably not. Is something stuck on the side (inside of course) of the drum, causing it to shake when spinning? If not, a spring or shock absorber (connecting drum to sides, bottom or top of machine) has broken or come loose.

Drum hitting sides of machine in spinning cycle (unbalance)

It sounds like you may have to many clothes in it. Try to remove some or reposition them. Sometimes the clothes get pushed to one side of the drum during the spin cycle and all of the weight to one side is making it off balanced.

Top loader 600MB fills water but wont wash or spin.Water fills to right level and timer turns o.k.

Check the lid switch for proper operation. If the switch is bad or not being actuated by the lowered lid, it will block operation of the machine.
