White dots on Samsung 50* Model

HLS5086WX Model Samsung 50" Tv started developing numerous black dots....almost like small bugs. Within a week started changing to white dots and growing in size to about 1/8". Called Samsung they told me to do a reset in the screen menu section. Did and did not change. Waited about a week and decided to check white dots Samsung Tv on Google....oh ****! Problem seems to stem from a DLP engine chip. I called Samsung, asked if they were involved in a class action lawsuit yet over this issue. Agent gave me a claim number and told me that Samsung would be calling back within 3 days. I will wait and keep everyone posted on results. If no results I suggest organizing a class action lawsuit regarding this matter.

My Mitsubishi TV has a small white dot on the screen

This could be something on the lens or mirrors. you can open one or both porthole covers on the left or right side of TV to determine if this is the cause. You can look at the mirrors & lens to determine if a bug or dust has gotten on either part. Then clean.

HOWEVER, the most likely cause is the DLP chip. this causes white & or black dots. May start out as one or two, then multiply.

See the following website for the proper DLP chip for your Mitsubishi model#:

My SAMSUNG DLP HLT5675SX TV seems to develop little black spots all over the screen and after a while these black spots become bright white spots. In fact if a non-used Input is selected and the screen is...

It is the chip that controls the millions of mirrors inside the tv. If they are black, they are stuck closed. If they are white, they are stuck open. I JUST had the same the same thing happen with mine. I bought it 3yr and 2 months ago and I had an extended warranty on it for 3 years. Well, needless to say, it was out of warranty and I was pissed. The store I bought it from suggested I call Samsung. Which, I did. They asked for the model number and told me that my model (hlt5675sx) was one of the ones that is covered becasue they had a problem with the chip. Within 2 weeks, my tv was fixed by a repairman who came to my house. It works perfectly, now and it didn't cost me a penny. Good luck.

White dots on screen of 50 Samsung DLP

Random dots or pixels failing on a DLP TV will be a bad DMD chip. This is a technician replace item only. The chip runs around 160 dollars list price. The part number will depend on which version the set uses and will be determined by the technician.

Numerous white spots on Smasung DLP TV

Mine is having the same problem. It started around Memorial Day and is only getting worse. One white dot is now a dozen. I called Samsung several times and was given the brush off. They clearly know this is a problem and are failing to respond to the problem in hopes that people will deal with it on their own. It does not matter if your warranty is expired. This is a latent product defect. They are still liable and obligated to fix the problem. I have filed a complaint with the better business bureau. If the company does not respond, I'm taking this to small claims court to get reimbursed for any cost to fix my tv.

Numerous white spots on Smasung DLP TV

If your Mitsubishi TV has white spots in the picture , you can call Mitsubishi @ 1-800-332-2119 and request a free DLP Chip to fix the problem. They will send the New DLP Chip at no charge to a TV Tech in your area to install it for $200 flat rate. That is about a $250 savings if you had to pay for the chip . Call them with your TV's Model number and serial number and let them know when and where you bought the TV.
It saved me some hard earned money and now my TV is like New !
