The monitor I have is the ViewSonic VX2835WM (28" LCD). I bought this around ten months ago, and it has been working flawlessly since then. However, this morning, while playing World of Warcraft, the screen went extremely blurry and a white zig-zag blur came on the right of my screen. I then turned off the monitor and put it on again, which fixed the problem. One hour later, this happened again. I turned it off and on, but didn't make a difference. I closed my computer and took the power cable out of the monitor for ten minutes, and put it in again.
When I turned the monitor on with only the power cable attached (it was NOT attached to my computer), the blue screen which comes was extremely blurry, had somewhat of a reflection between the north half and the bottom half (it says HDMI on top, and it says HDMI in reflection at the bottom). Like before, there is also a white blurry zig-zag line on the right side, which I suspect is also reflected just as the HDMI is. There is a straight line running right horizontally right across the center of the screen. I believe everything below this line is a reflection of the above.

The 2 470uf caps on the driver board can cause that type problem if they are bulging. Be sure to use low ESR caps for the repair. They will also need to be high temp and high ripple current. DO not use ones from Radio Shack, they can damage the board when they fail. Capacitors from Nichicon, United Chemicon, Rubycom and Panasonic are the best ones to use for this type repair. Just check the ratings.
Or www.digikey.com just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current, long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series. Please leave rating if it helps.
Very carefully. I only would do it after you have verified the warranty is expired per Viewsonic. If it is OOW, then you can call them for a service manual that contains schematics, troubleshooting flowcharts, etc.
If you had of stopped trying to get it to work when you knew there was a problem, the repair would have likely been inexpensive and fairly easy to do. It sounds like the capacitors on your power board needed to be replaced. However, since you kept using it until you killed it, the power board likely needs to be replaced. You can get one from viewsonic.com. Email them and get a price. Make sure the monitor is no longer covered by the 3 year warranty. Here's a piece of advice. If your car starts making loud banging noises, don't just keep running it. Have it looked at right away. If a piece of electronics starts acting up, deal with it. Don't just keep trying to make it work or you will ruin it completely. @jitky
If you don't know the difference between a CRT and an LCD you should just stop trying to help people. How you got the rank of "master" is beyond my understanding.
If you have your proof-of-purchase and it shows the monitor is less than a year old, it would be covered. You would need to follow the procedure on their website to have the unit repaired or replaced, but it would not be your job to try to fix it.
Call viewsonic and they will give you an RMA, ,you will have to pay the shipping and packing costs, it was $70.00 when I sent mine in around 6 months ago, they will fix it and pay the return shipping. Get the RMA first though or they won't take it. Thew power board blows on them and must be replaced, and they won't send you the board, so u must send them the monitor.
