This is caused by a faulty water level switch. It is a diaphragm-like device that has a small clear plastic tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level increases, so does the pressure on the air in the plastic tube and when it reaches a certain level, it activates the switch to turn off the water and signals the timer to start the appropriate cycle. Check for any obstructions in or damage to the plastic tube. The switch can be tested using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity indicates a faulty switch. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Maytag washer overflows

Remove and clean the water level tube that connects to the tub at one end and to the water level switch at the other end. Probably it is full of gunk.

My Maytag performa series LAT2500AAE fills to the medium level no matter which setting I use. It does NOT overflow.

If your infinite water level switch has a reset, perform this before changing the water level setting prior to your next load, this is usually done by rotating the knob to the reset zone, then back to your desired water level setting. If your problem still exists, you will most likely need the water level switch replaced Part# 22001776. Pleazer Appliance...

Maytag washer will not agitate

A Maytag A412 is well over 20 years old....
Best guess is a corroded upper drive shaft, the one that the agitator is mounted on. Certainly it can be called a transmission problem.

My maytag topload washer overfilled,

It isn't a sensor problem, it sounds more like your water level tube has pulled loose. This is attached to the outer drum itself. You can see it when you remove your front cover to the right of the outer tub. This tube uses the pressure generated from your tub water level to push air up to your water level selector, which has a rubber membrane that flexes and closes 2 contacts as the water level makes the rubber expand. If that tube is off, the water will just keep running.

I have an older maytag washer. It fills over the

I had the same problem on an older Maytag washer (A412 series?). The solution is easy...but a bit dirty. The problem is that your level switch, which is actually a pressure switch, is not actuating because its sensing line is plugged. The line usually plugs at the sensing line manifold (larger diameter tube) with washer "gunk" or slime near its connection to the drum. Note that there are not that many connections to the drum, so you should be able to find it and remove it. Access to the front interior of the washer will be necessary (its easy...the front panel rotates up and off). Access to the top instrument/control panel may be necessary to unhook the sensing line from the pressure switch if complete purging of the line is necessary. Take care when working with the pressure switch for their internals can be easily damaged.

Maytag FAV6800AWW - Major overflow right after starting machine

Hi, If you turn the water source valve on and water starts filling the machine even tho the machine is off, change the inlet valve.
If you have to start the machine so water will fill but, the water does not shut off at the desired level, there is a problem with the water level switch.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Vic.

Kenmore 70 series washer

if the water was overflowing from the top of the tub it sounds like the pressure hose came loose. tilt the control panel back and you will prob see the hose that connects to the left side (where you adjust the water level) has come loose. cut about 1/4 inch off of it and re-connect it.
