Be careful. Sounds like an over heating safety issue.
Unless you can identify the cause, suggest replace unit with a new toaster oven. Be sure to read and follow any safety instructions.

SOURCE: How do I get manual for Black & Decker Toaster/Convection Oven Model CTO6301 Type 1? I need to clean the bottom 2 bars.

Many Black&Decker product manuals are available from the manufacturer's product page. Use warm soapy water and a polyester non-scratch pad as needed. Make sure that everything is dry before storing the oven or using it again.

The unit has a one year warranty from the date of purchase. If you're a little bit over the warranty, we'll still work with you on an exchange. The unit can not be fixed it has to be replaced. Please call our customer service line at 800-231-9786. I happen to work in their call center. :)
