Ok, you want a full procedure here it is. First of all if your computer does not meet the following specs stop reading cuz you'll be wasting your time trying to get it to work and will be very disappointed by the quality of game play:
Minimal Specs:AMD 64 or Intel Pentium 4 (VM Build will not work with
non SSE2 CPU's)
512MB of
RAMPixel Shader 2.0 supporting card
Recommended Specs: (For reasonable performance in many games, but not all)
AMD64 X2 or Intel Conroe E6600+ (Multi Threading is supported in PCSX2)
512-1024MB of RAM (more RAM allows for VM mode to be stable)
Pixel Shader 2.0 supporting card (recommended GeForce 6600-8800 or equivalent ATi card)
Possible Ideal Specs:64bit OS such as Vista or winXP64, to allow for future support of 64bit recompilers.
Future AMD or
Intel Quad Coremaybe needed, but currently the support of 4 threads is not handled byPCSX2, and the effect of threading out EE / VU is not yet known.
We don't forsee you requiring a GPU more powerful than the current generation of cards, up to and including the
nVidia GeForce 8800.
Also note, if if have just a standard AMD Athlon (non64) don't even bother trying to run this emulator. It does work but is very very slow.
If you meet at the very least the minimum specs go here and download PCSX2 Binary. .::
CLICK HERE::.
This is the BEST PS2 emulator currently on the net. There is NONE better.
Next: as with any emulator you need a BIOS in order to use it. There are several methods to getting a PS2 BIOS. You can google "PS2 BIOS download" or check torrent sites like this one .::
HERE::.and do a search for "PS2 BIOS". At any rate, get 1 or many BIOS(one for each different area ex. Japan, US, Europe)
Next: Un-7zip the PCSX2 7zip. Take the BIOS.bin files you downloaded and place them all in the folder, "bios" in the PCSX2 folders you unzipped.
Next: You'll notice two icons that look the same one is called pcsx2.exe and one is called pcsx2t.exe. I have had no luck getting anything to play worth a **** on pcsx2.exe. I use pcsx2t.exe. According to the person who made this program, pcsx2.exe is a faster emulator version, but he says that AMD people have had better luck using pcsx2t.exe. So, if your computer has an AMD processor try the pcsx2t.exe first. But keep what I said in mind cuz you may have to use the other one instead. In either case, choose one and run it.
Next: When the program opens, it will have to be configured. Look at the top of the program and click the, "config" menu option. Next click the, "configure" menu option. You are now faced with several configuration options. I'm not even going to bother explaining what each option does, go .::
HERE::. it explains what everything does. 9 times out of 10 when pcsx2 won't work, it's cuz of a bad configuration. SO MAKE SURE YOU READ THAT WHOLE PAGE.
As you can see there two ways you can load a game. Either by turning the game itself into an ISO or from using your DVD-ROM drive.
As far as controlers go, you can purchase USB PS2 look alikes from most computer stores. You can also get PS2 to USB converters that you can plug directly into your computer. And there is even a SIAXIS driver floating around on the internet that will run a PS3 controler as if it was a standard computer game controler. If you don't have money for a controler or what not just use the ZeroPAD option under, "First Controler" and start binding keyboard keys to assigned slots.
As with any emulator nothing is perfect and this will not play every single PS2 game out on the market. However, this is the most current emulator in production atm and is the furthest along. When you get everything up and running you'll want to look ..::
HERE::. at the compatibility list to make sure your game is registered to even work with this emulator.
Hope that helps,
