If I'm not confusing apples-to-oranges, the soap-opera effect is covered under MENU, MORE PICTURE settings, in the FILM MODE setting. However, you should be aware that if you do watch a movie in this setting, Tom Cruise will show up at your house and smash your TV.
Lol. I work with a Luis R.
I'm not sure what a "soap opera effect" is but if you want 1080p or 4k you have to have the bluray connected with a hdmi. And the bluray has to have the same quality output you want (minimum 1080p)
Contact the TV maker yet, ask them?
Testimonial: "They told me that i need to have UHD to see the movies in that definition. Something that clearly wasn't mentioned in any promo. Most of my Blueray doesn't even look that good. Not even close to the Soap Opera Effect even tho they could just told that this TV doesn't have that option like other Vizio Smart TV that do have them."

I had the same problem - Fix - Go to the sharp web site and download the file HP21U_HP50U_PN902270. You will need to make sure your thumb drive is no bigger than 4gb and you do not have any other files on it. Once you download the file on the thumb drive, you will need to unzip the file on the same thumb drive. The zip file is one of the new ones, so you might need to go to the web and get a shareware program that will open it. After this - turn your player on and go to setting, next scroll down to update firmware, insert the drive and tell it OK, it will ask you if this is OK, tell it OK and it will upgrade the firmware in about 2 min. I have already done this with 3 other players with no problem. Good luck. The sharp web site is sometimes a little hard to find and to me was not the most user friendly. good luck [email protected]
SOURCE: I have a new 40"
You didnt specify what type of samsung TV you have but the are picture presets for most of the ones i have come across, they are named in this format Dynamic, Cool, Smooth etc, they are presets so you can select the closest to the effect you want and then from there fine tune the picture with the brightness, contrast options, Hope this helps...
