I obtained two DVD's from America via Amazon.com. I could play the one (the movie "The Red Shoes"), but not the other (the movie "The Tales of Hoffmann" - 1951 edition). When I bought the LG276 DVD player I was informed by the salesman that it is a multi region player and would play all DVD's - it certainly does not! My computer (Acer Aspire) will not play the DVD (the movie "The Tales of Hoffmann" -1951 edition) either. What can I do?

I picked up a LG DV276 DVD Player here in Australia but I am from the United States so I own region 1 DVDs. I unlocked my new player by instead 1. Open the tray. 2. Press 0 0 0 0 on the remote and a Menu will appear. 3. Press 0 for region free. 4. Press pause and power off.

I can play everything now, Aussie and US DVDs. Thanks LJ66.

Post hack comment THE very best solution! LG DVD player LG276 - icon_minipost.gifRegion code hack posted by WimYoung, October 30 2007:
Finally I found a hack for this device:

1. Download and unzip this imagefile: http://video7.free.fr/LG6188.zip

2. Burn image with your favourite recording software to a CD-R/RW.

3. Insert the disc in your LG player.

4. After disc is loaded a menu should appear;

5. Press "0" (=enter new region code), followed by "Pause", as shown on screen.

6. Power off the player and next time it starts it doesn't check the region code. (Tested on a LG DVX276 player)

Ps: It seems to be the same hack as for LG6188.

It's really easy; open tray, press 0 three times on the remote, a screen will appear asking you for the region you want. Press 0 (for all regions) - it will then ask you to press the pause button. Turn off if you want, but it's not necessary - stick the DVD in and play it! This hack also works on a lot of older model LG's, so its worth a try if nothing else has worked. What harm can you do by pressing zero 3 times while the tray is opened?

I bought a Samsung BD C6900 from USA designed for region 1 and A . Living in Europe I cannot play my european DVDs and BDs ? Are there any solutions to change the region code ?

Here is a solution: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/samsung-bd-c6900/10895

Please note, however, that even after region code hack, it may remain NTSC only, so if you are planning to play European DVDs recorded with PAL system, it may not work.

Hi i was after a no region code for a dvd player!!!

To unlock the DVD code its defends upon what region you belongs or from were you bought the DVD unit. Just click this site to hack the region code ; http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks

To keep it simple, this means that DVD players and DVDs are labeled for operation on within a specific geographical region in the world. For example, the U.S. is in region 1. This means that all DVD players sold in the U.S. are made to region 1 specifications. As a result, region 1 players can only play region 1 discs. That's right, the DVDs themselves are encoded for a specific region. On the back of each DVD package, you will a find a region number (1 thru 6).
The geographical regions are as follows:
REGION 1 -- USA, Canada
REGION 2 -- Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East, Greenland
REGION 3 -- S.Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Parts of South East Asia
REGION 4 -- Australia, New Zealand, Latin America (including Mexico)
REGION 5 -- Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Africa
REGION 6 -- China
REGION 7 -- Reserved for Unspecified Special Use
REGION 8 -- Reserved for Cruise Ships, Airlines, etc...
REGION 0 or REGION ALL -- Discs are uncoded and can be played Worldwide, however, PAL discs must be played in a PAL-compatible unit and NTSC discs must be played in an NTSC-compatible unit.

The end result is that DVDs encoded for regions other than Region 1 cannot be played on a region 1 DVD player, also, players marketed for other regions cannot play region 1-stamped DVDs

Hope it may help you;

Dv276 unlock

Hi,

LGs are relatively easy to make region free and therefore should be able to play any DVDs. Below is one of the methods:
1. Using the remote control open tray
2. Press 0, 0, 0
3. Region selection will appear.
4. Select 0 for no region (ie. all regions)
5. Press pause button on remote control.
6. Turn Unit off and back on again.
It was originally posted here.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
