Why would the hummingbird I have come to the feeder and only stay a couple seconds, not longer to even see it ? And is it true that the hummingbirds always at least come in pair?

Hummingbirds do not always come in pairs. There may be a few reasons for a short stay. Food (mainly the water) can sour which will turn them away or the necter may not be sweet enough. Ive seen where they also may not care for clear nector and prefer the red color. The last thing ive seen turn them away are insects on the feeder. Eventhough they will sometimes eat small insects often they will turn away from them. We have three feeders. 2 of which have pearches and 1 does not. My pearch feeders always seem to keep birds longer.

SOURCE: Humminbird NS25 GPS

This is a common problem on lots of boats with any brand of electronics. Most likely it is being caused by a bad crimp in a wire connector, or by having too many connectors on a terminal in the power supply bus. Start at the power supply source and ground and replace any butt or terminal connectors with high quality heat shrink connectors (such as Ancor). Make sure that the connector is the right size for the wire.

On Humminbirds the problem could also be in the swivel mount that holds the power and data cables. The cables should be held in place by a metal bracket which is located under a panel held onto the swivel bracket by to small philips head screws. If any of those components are missing, the plug may be loose in the socket which could cause it to disconnect temporarily when the boat hits a wave. While you have it apart check the plug and the socket for corrosion.

I hope this helps. Please contact me if you have any more questions.

The Depth & temp come from two different sensors. Check your coax cable to the transducer (the lager oval piece), the connector, and the transducer for cracks /breaks in insulation. Good luck.

How do hummingbirds fly backwards

A hummingbird can rotate each of its wings in a circle, allowing them to be the only bird which can fly forwards, backwards, up, down, sideways or sit in sheer space. To hover, hummingbirds move their wings forward and backward in a repeated figure eight, much like the arms of a swimmer treading water.
