I didn't think there were any electric blankets left out there still working! I thought everyone quit making them because of the risk of fire when the blanket gets older, especially when it has been laundered. If I am wrong, I apologize, but I chose to dispose of the one I had, thankful for the years of service, but unwilling to risk a bed fire. Would suggest you do the same.

you may have a faulty connection or bined wire on the blanket they do have a switch that shot off for any reason..you can't do anything unless you open it and check

Try swapping the controls and see if the problem stays with the control or the blanket side. In any case I would go on line and contact Sunbeam, they are a very reputable manufacturer and I would be surprised if they do not stand behind the product. You will be able to tell them if it is the control or blanket. If the other side of the blanket gets warm when you switch the controls it is the control if the same side gets warm it is the blanket. If neither side gets warm is is the blanket and control.

First off, why are you using an electric blanket in the middle of a heat wave??? Oh, never mind, I just looked up the manufacturer who was located in New South Wales, and I guess you Blokes and Sheilas in Australia are in the middle of winter. The manufacturer is located in Mascot, NSW, but no longer makes the blankets. Try contacting them directly to see if cords are available. If the chewed section is between the blanket and the transformer, you
will most likely be better off buying a new one. The first link is to a discussion about Riviera Electric Blankets, and the second is a retailer in Sydney that carries new blankets from $39 to $150.
