SOURCE: no cooling in refrig, botton freezer forming too much ice

I had the exact same problem last month. After reading another article here, we opened up the freezer's back panel, melted/removed the ice and then replaced the DEFROST THERMOSTAT that we got at a local applicance parts house. It works great (actually better) now.

Fridge is out of gas in fridge compartment. Freezer compartment is in order

if the freezer is operating ok,then the refrige side isnt out of gas,its the damper vent door between the freezer and refrige thats not opening to let cold air into fridge from freezer, sometimes they stick shut due to ice from condensation on this door, remove grille cover on damper door and check this,if iced up defrost it with a hair dryer, then change temp selector and make sure door then moves with temp change

Kenmore 18tfa top freezer refrig model # 72852101 freezer works, no cool air going into the refrig part. Ice machine works fine too. fan is on.

Possible fan not blowing the air into the fresh food compartment or your freezer could be frosted up. Need more input.

My side by side Model GSH22KGRE BB freezer is

there is one of 2 possibilities, either the damper door between the refrige and freezer compartments is frozen shut due to ice build up and needs thaw out,the cold control that controls this door is bad or the mother board on the lower rear apron behind a cover panel is defective,if you have had light bulbs go out in the refrige compartment and now the refrige part does not cool and the temp light readout is dark this is a good indication its the motherboard, also if the lights are strobing and you can hear a relay clicking

Older model fridge freezes on the refrig. side

check the damper door and see if its iced up this is between the refrige and freezer compartments and lets cold into refrige from freezer,if it ices up in the open condition the refrige control cant change the temp, defrost the door and then see if the control moves the door,if so also check the door seals to make sure they are sealing good so as not to let warm air in that can condense and freeze things like the damper door

Food in refrigerator is freezing

check the damper door between the freezer and refrigerator compartments,it most likely has frozen in the fully open position allowing cold air into refrige compartment all the time, you will see ice build up around the damper door unit, remove the door unit defrost, replace and then see if it moves when you change the refrige cold control

Roaring sound

I have had the same issues. I have owned my LFX25960 for 18 months. All the cooling, noise, and condensation problems are related to 2 fans. One for the freezer/refrigerator compartments and One for the Ice Maker. The fans, apparently, are not sufficient to move enough air through the coils located behind a plastic panel in the freezer compartment. The part numbers for my fans are 1. Ice Maker 4681JB1029E and Refrig/Freezer 4681JK1004E. It is not impossible, but fairly difficult to replace them yourself. You have to remove the large slide out freezer drawer and glides. Then work the back freezer panel loose from the bottom. Be careful not to break it. It is plastic.
Routine maintenance: Pull the refrig out from the wall and blow-out the coils and fan located on the lower right rear. You might find it easier to do this by removing the cover on the lower, back of the refrig.

Model 78182891 Coldspot with excessive water Collecting in Refrig

a plugged or frozen drain is a common problem that occurs from time to time in just about all refrigs so the answer is yes it may occur again in the future. But folllow theses directions and it will probably not occur again for 2-3 years.

  • Unplug refrigerator
  • unload food from freezer
  • remove icemaker if present (there are 3 screws remove the one on the bottom and loosen the 2 on top of icemaker then lift it off the 2 screws unplug from wiring harness)
  • remove 2 screws holding rear cover in place
  • move cover to the side or remove from unit altogether
  • defrost any and all ice from bottom of freezer and aluminum drain pan that is now exposed
  • flush drain hole that you will see once ice is cleared with warm water. (sometimes I use a large syringe or turkey baster to forcefully flush hot water thru the drain tube)
  • reassemble in reverse order
Post back if you have any questions and I'll gladly help you out Thanks Peyton
