Be careful. i do not know. set at highest setting and let it run. while running, reduce setting to the lowest over a few minutes. at a lower setting you should be able to tell that the compressor has started. run it for 5 minutes, then
unplug your machine. next, feel the cooling coils to see if they are very cold. if they are not cold, your unit needs to be serviced.
SOURCE: Compressor is not working
Same problem with mine. Just pulled the thing apart ...and they were nice enough to have a schematic right behind the water bucket. In my case I found the defrost switch was open. If you pull the back off it's located in the lower right corner clipped to the compressor pipe and covered with a black insulating putty. It has two large red wires coming out of it as well, quite obvious. I unclipped mine and tapped it a few times and it closed up - so now the compressor will come on ...but I'd like to get a known good one in there. I just found this site was I was trying to find the part. If anyone knows where to get one please post! PN: 37TA32 501624 F57-20F J0332 Thanks! - Pat
SOURCE: Fan motor stopped working, replacement went out too!
I would look for another outlet for you to plug it in before you start anything elaborate. I assume you've done this already but spin the motor/blade. If it spins and there is little or no play in the shaft or blades causing a blade to bind up the mechanical part seems ok.
Now if you have a volt meter First check the motor for voltage, Then if you have voltage, compare it to the rating on the motor. Usually a voltage within 10% is ok. Next test resistance on the wires of the motor any resistance and the winding is probably okay. If not then the motor is out again. If you have lost voltage the control board is your next part to test. No voltage out to the motor there on the board plug and the board is the problem Power there woudl mean the motor has too high a resistance and Id check the resistance on a differant known good motor before replacing it. just so you know where you started.
SOURCE: Ijust bought a danby dehumidifier ddr5009. The
This dehumidifier is built in such a way that the fan runs all the time;however the compressor works only when it is needed. These infos are not specified in the booklet. It does not work like the old ones.
SOURCE: Danby Dehumidifier DDR557HE has never dehumidified
either lacks coolant or compressor bad
Testimonial: "Thank you, I didn't even know a dehumidifier had coolant. "
SOURCE: fan runs, but compressor does not start
Hi,
There are many reasons for a dehumidifier to not work or collect water.
Here is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going wrong with their dehumidifier.
Dehumidifier is running but no water is in bucket

So I just had this happen with my Frigidaire fad704dwd dehumidifier. I went to basement and heard it running and sounded off. The compressor was running fan was off which is bad and humidity said 30. I then pushed the off button and it stayed running. I was able to fix it. To make long story short it was a bad ground. I took the plastic back, sides, and front off. There was a green ground (main ground) and Green/yellow ground (fan ground) on the front coil with a bunch of rust. Removed the grounds connected them both together and cleaned the surface area and used a new stainless screw nut and screw to remount the wires to evaporator coil. Everything started working fine after that and I put it back together. Good Luck
