i have the same problem with my whirlpool washer. It is five years old! I was told it was the basket drive and transmission that is going. It will cost $275 to fix. Paid $379 for it. What a piece of ****! Will never buy whirlpool again. It was my 1st one. I had always bought GE prior.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Estate washer won't agitate or spin.

Did you just do a rug or a comforter in that washer? if so you may have broken the drive coupling. Check out these repair photos with manuals and vids.

Dish washer does not drain. Checked for food being stuck anywhere. removed wash arm and plastic housing and checked for any type of blockage. Dishwasher hardly used.

SOURCE: was the conveter supose to spin freely when bolted

I take it you were installing a transmission or engine that caused you to unblot the torque converter? The drive plate is bolted to the crankshaft, the torque converter is bolted to the drive plate, it should turn with the engine only. Hope this helps, let me know

My Estate washer ETW4400WQ1 will fill with water then run for about 2 minutes then stops. I can let it sit for about 20 minutes and go back to it and then turn it on and it will run for about 2 minute

this sounds as if the drive motor for the drum to rotate has some sort of obstruction to it's turning freely , unplug unit then remove the lower back panel , locate drive motor ther on bottom (round thing) see how difficult it is to rotate the drive belt one complete drum rotation with your hand , if drum does not turn freely then i suggest looking further for a missing drum roller or maybe a forign object getting caught down in drum lip seal

Agitaor will not turn / spin cycle trum won't spin

The drive coupling has failed. Remove two screws on the console of the machine. As you pull forward on the console, roll the console back. This will expose the underside of the console. On the top of the cabinet you will see two brass looking clips. Remove those using a screwdriver and prying up. Unplug the lid switch. Remove the whole cabinet by rolling forward. At the bottom of the machine in the front is the pump. remove the two clips holding it on. Carefully remove. Remove the two clips holding the motor on. On the back side of the motor is the coupling. One side connects to the motor, the other to the gear case. Replace and reinstall all parts.

Kenmore washer not spinning well (very slow) with or without clothes leaving clothes wet after full cycle. I also noticed a faint burnt rubber smell and a screeching sound during the spini cycle. Note: I...

It is much harder to turn the basket with the motor shaft. If it is not getting up to speed the brake is dragging and the basketdrive /brake will need replaced.

Where is the fabric dispenser in my whirlpool estate washing machine?

Whirlpool will put their fabric softener dispensers in one of 2 places. Either in the top of the agitator there will be a cup or in one of the front right hand corners (far less often). If you do not have either of these options, likely, it a model that did not come with one (not uncommon at all)
