Noma 043-6131-0 Heating Question

Based on the product specifications available online, the Noma 043-6131-0 portable air conditioner does not appear to have a heating mode or a heat pump function. It is designed only for cooling and dehumidifying a room.
If you are seeing a heating mode on the unit, it may be a different model or a mislabeled function. In any case, it is always recommended to follow the manufacturer's instructions regarding the use of the exhaust hose. The exhaust hose is necessary for venting the hot air generated by the air conditioning process out of the room, regardless of whether the unit has a heating function or not. Running the unit without the exhaust hose can cause it to work less efficiently and may also create a buildup of heat and humidity in the room.

Why does my portable air conditioner cool for a short period of time and then turn off?
Have you extended the exhaust hose with another? The unit can ONLY be used with the included exhaust hose (dryer type exhaust hoses will cause the unit to over heat).

How close is the unit to the wall? If the unit is only inches away from the wall and you are running the exhaust hose out a window, more than likely their exhaust hose bend is at 90 degrees which restricts air flow. In order for the unit to run more efficiently and not overheat, it should be at least 1-1/2 feet away from the wall and the exhaust hose should not exceed more then a 45 degree angle.
Are you exhausting the unit out a hole in the wall? If so, are you using a flap vent on the exterior of your home/office? The flap may be too rigid and not open continuously. The compressor is not strong enough to push the air through and therefore will only run for a short period of time before overheating and shutting off. You should take the flap off the vent and replace it with a piece of screening.

Are you venting it into a ceiling or basement? Does the ceiling or basement have ample ventilation? If the ceiling or basement does not have a way of pushing the heat from the exhaust to the outside, the unit will work for a short period of time and then eventually overheat and shut off. Remove exhaust hose

U need that hose to direct the warm air outside the area to be cooled. If you remove it, the hot exhaust will stay in the room being cooled and negate the cold air being directed into the room.

That is why regular room AC units are mounted on window sill. Cold air in, hot air out.

What causes the exhaust hose to get hot on a windchaser portable AC

make sure its not obstructed, then wrap it up with a towel or other insulative material. it heats up because the heat exhausts through that hose out the window.

Air intake via hose & window or intake from room only?

Hello artrey3 The answer is yes, BUT the unit will be exausting room/basement air outside ruining any efficency the unit is rated for. Also you will need makeup/fresh air in the basement. The unit exausting air can put the basement in a vacuum/negitive pressure pulling in air from the chimney!

My dryer works and seems to be heating up but the clothes won't dry, even if I put just one thing in there. However, the utility room seems much hotter than it used to, almost like the heat is going out...

you have a clog in your exhaust somewhere. You must find it and clear it out to prevent serious trouble.

Pull the machine from the wall, remove the exhaust hose and start vacuuming both directions. Do the hose as well ... if the exhaust hose is plastic, replace it with a flexible metal one. Dontf orget the outside vent. When you are sure you cleaned all of it, reassemble and try again. Let me know what happens.

Air exhaust hose gets extremely warm

The Pinguino's exhaust pipe has to be attached to the window bracket to direct the air hot air out of the room, otherwise the room can't cool properly.
The owner's manual has several troubleshooting remedies for you to try:
1)  If the window is open, close the window. 2)  If there is a heat source in the room (burner, lamp, etc.), eliminate the heat source. 3)  If the exhaust hose is detached, connect the exhaust hose.  (My recommendation is to connect the exhaust hose to the window bracket and direct the air outside.) 4)  If the air filters are clogged, clean or replace the filters.
Remedies that aren't mentioned in the manual, but you might find helpful:
1)  Make sure that there are no kinks in the hose, and that the hose either remains straight or has a gentle curve when directing it into the window bracket.
2)  A sunny window reduces the maximum power and efficiency of the unit.  Placing it in a sunny window reduces your BTUs by at least 600, which means the maximum square footage of cooled space is reduced.  Cooling a kitchen requires at least 4,000 BTUs alone, which is nearly half of the unit's BTUs.  Try to place the unit by a window that receives minimum to no direct sunlight.
Finally, stating the obvious, if the room isn't cooling, the room is too large for the unit.  The PACL90 cools up to 400sqft.  Bear in mind that the air from these portable air conditioners cannot move around corners very well, so try to set it by a window in the central part of the room.
