SOURCE: dim control panel unable to read

Removed the amber glass which obscures the display enough to remove the wiring from view. This also allows you to see the characters much more clearly. You now can see the inidvidual light elements.
It's not too bad, people don't even notice, but they do notice you can now tell the time and see what the oven is doing.

SOURCE: How do I remove the control panel on model JE2160

You need to take the back cover off using a special tork wrench. If you don't have one a thin blade screw driver usually works. after getting the back cover off access is pretty easy to remove the screws from the panel. Make sure to discharge the capacitor before attempting any repairs and unplugged of course.

SOURCE: The Display is Dim. Hard to read the numbers.

I have the same model and problem. The time display is totally unreadable. Looking for a solution as well. I suspect given the cost (I believe around $60), it's time for a new one. Anyone have any suggestions or easy repair ideas?

Sharp carousel2 microwave convection model number r-8350 flashing but control panel won't work

Many parts for this model are long since no longer available, but many generic parts are available.

Chances are your control circuit board needs repair. After all these years, the electrolytic capacitors dry internally and that can cause bizarre symptoms.

I can repair your board, normally for $54.95, which includes insured return shipping, but if your membrane keypad is bad, it cannot be repaired.

For details and more free DIY and other help & advice, feel free to contact me directly.

Please include FULL model number*, FCC ID number*, + detailed symptom information.

I just bought the microwave/ convection oven 800 series. Do I have to take the rack out when I use the microwave, and the turntable out when I use the convection oven?

No you do not have to remove anything. The rack is made to be in there. If you still are not sure look in the owners manual or call the place where you bought it. I have a combo oven/ microwave also and can use one or the other or both at the same time

Are you able to get a VFD separately for Maytag MMV4205BAW to repair dim display panel without doing the entire panel?

The VFD (vacuum fluorescent display) tube is not available as a separate part for this model, so you would have to order a new control circuit board.

For model MMV4205BAW, the board's Amana part number W10127098 and it runs a hefty $232.30.

BUT -
if you order the board by the original Samsung part number, you can probably get it a for a lot less.

Here is a photo of a similar board which is marked to show you where to find the full part number.

You can find links to helpful exploded view diagrams and part ordering help here.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Once the controller is out, you disconnect the keypad, then take out your old board and put in the new one.

The display is dim on the oven. Everything works

1. Sometimes you can clean it inside to brighten it up for a while.

2. In some cases, we can replace the VFD to brighten one up if it's available for a given model.

3. The last solution is to replace the control circuit board.

For more specifics on the options 2 & 3, we would need your brand and full model number.

As for suggestion # 1, cleaning:

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you can detach the keypad connector (as per attached photo) then remove the control panel screws.

Be careful not to crack the glass display when handling it, or it's a goner.

Then you can use a soft cloth (not a paper towel) and a mild cleaner (not ammonia-based) to clean the front surface of the VFD display glass and the rear side of the clear bezel (display window) that's attached to the keypad.

Direct spraying of cleaners on the keypad and steam from the cooktop can damage the controls.

I always recommend that you spray non-ammonia cleaner on a soft cloth (not a paper towel which can scratch) and gently wipe the keypad.

How to replace both door hooks on BOSCH MICROWAVE/GRILL

You have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) that demonstrates how it's done.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

Display not workign

Sadly, the display tube is not available separately, so the only way to fix this is to replace the board, at a whopping $181.48!

One trick that helps is to remove the control panel assembly, take the circuit board out of the frame and very carefully wipe the front of the glass and the rear surface of the control panel frame's display window.

Use a soft cloth with alcohol-based (non-ammonia) window cleaner.

That will brighten it up quite a bit.

At our site, we now have a video available showing how to remove a typical control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Be sure to unplug the oven before you do any disassembly.
