Try to turn your ac without the remote. I think you can do that then make sure you are in cool mode. If the compressor does not run then you can check:
1. Overload relay. It is usually locate on the top of the compressor. If it dead then there are some reasons cause the dead. You need to be very careful before replacing it.
2. If the compressor runs then your remote issue.

You may have freon in system but compressor won't engage unless it's full under pressure. By jumping the the relay you're doing damage to compressor by running on low pressure. Have system evacuated and recharged to proper amount of freon - usually 4 lbs of freon
