Cartier Women's Tank Watch

What has been the issue when the repairs have been done? My experience with Tanks is that any reputable watch shop will replace the battery for $20. I don't know why it has cost you so much, but if the model you have is an auto-winder, then there is no way to retrofit a battery - although for $600 someone may be able to change the internal watch out completely.

Rolex 1992 replica , minute hand loose

Replica watches are all made in one Chinese town. The parts are pressed, not machined. They dont last long and cant be repaired.
Go online and buy another replica (the best ones are around $200!)

My Fendi watch needs a battery where can I get it in DES Moines, IA?

Many jewelers work on watches. Sometimes you can get the batteries replaced at stores like Wal-Mart or Target in the jewelry dept. But if it's a nice watch that you don't want to take a chance with, find a jeweler who does it. It may cost you a few dollars more, but they won't scratch up the watch. I have a lot of inexpensive watches that I change out the battery myself, but the special ones I take to my local jeweler. The cost is approx. $1.00 for a 4-pack of batteries at the dollar store, vs. approx. $6 to $8 each at the jeweler.

My Ebel Sport Classique needs repair for the 181-1 movement Detent. What is the cost of repair and an overhaul for this 8 yr old watch?

Depending what all is involved with the overhaul and other repairs the low end for repair would cost around $375 and may cost as much as $600. Anytime I send a watch in for this kind of repair I expect a free estimate and you should too. If there is a cost for an estimate or if the estimate is around the $600 mark I realy feel you should get a 2nd detailed estimate from a different jewelry store/ repair center.

Cannot get the back cover on my eddie bauer watch after replacing battery

Watch makers/technicians use a special press to replace the back. You can get these presses but the cost can be more than it is worth.

Since the watch is most likely water resistant and you will have to go to a watch maker/technician to replace the back anyway I recommend having the rear seal inspected and replaced if needed and having the watch pressure tested to be sure that it is sealed to factory specifications.

Bulova has mechanical day/date display near 3 o'clock position, electronic watch (quartz I presume) less than 3 yrs old. Started losing time. I assumed the original battery needed to be replaced. Battery...

I believe you are just outside your warranty. Its time to see a watch maker/technician about repairing the watch. Often times slowing is as easy to fix as lubricating the movement and forcing the gear train through the use of a cyclonic device. This fix takes minutes and is very cost effective. If the slowing is due t circuit board issues or a more sever gear train problem then the movement will need to be overhauled. I suggest comparing this cost to the cost of a replacement movement.

My daughter gave me a Timex wristwatch (Indiglo waterprood, two tone, with day of month display for Christmas. The band is a bit big. How do I adjus it? It's not a twist o flex.

You just need a tool to push the pin out. Make sure to push the pins in the direction that the arrow points. DO NOT try to do this with any sharp object as you will ruin the band and ultimately the pins. You need a specific tool to do this as you it applies a quick "burst" of pressure to the pin which pops it out. You can buy this tool online at an inexpensive price (search: watch sizing tool), but if you don't have a huge watch collection I would just suggest going to your local jeweler to have it sized. I size all of my own watches, but I have been doing this for years. I would not want you to ruin your band or the pins by doing this incorrectly. It will probably cost you $10+ to have it sized at a jeweler, but you will be paying around the same for a tool. While this may seem like an annoying cost to pay, I assure you that it's quite normal, and almost everyone needs to have their watch sized. Watch companies make their watches big on purpose so that if you are a larger person you will not have to pay for extra links or special order them. Depending on where she bought the watch, they might even be able to size the watch for free (if they have the tools I am 99% sure they will size it for free as most places offer free sizing if you bought the watch from them). Even Wal-Mart offers free watch sizing if you purchased it from that specific location (this doesn't apply if you purchased the watch online though). Although the pin looks like it can be pushed out with a pen or something else sharp, please don't attempt this. I previously worked at a jewelry counter and can't tell you the number of ruined watches I have seen by people attempting to size their watches without the correct tools. Most stores will not let you return/exchange a watch that has been damaged if the customer has attempted to size it themselves either.

Hope this helps!
