The microwave oven would have to be removed from the island cabinet and have its cover removed to gain access to the internal lamp for replacement.

We see this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide for $39.95 postpaid.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on too.

That model number doesn't look quite right, but nevertheless:

If there's no obvious removable cover over the bulb (and the owner's manual doesn't address it) some disassembly may be required.

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs.

If it's an over the range type, remove the vent grille across the top and see if bulbs can be accessed there. There may be a panel on the bottom covering the light(s), instead.

If not, chances are you'll have to remove it from the wall, then remove the outer cover. If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

Once it's out of the wall, the outer cover (wrapper) will need to be removed, just as you'll need to do on a counter top model.

On a counter top model, be sure it's unplugged, but otherwise ignore the instructions above this paragraph.

The screws you need to remove should be pretty obvious, but a special driver (such as a T20H Torx type or GTXH20-100) may be needed.

Be sure to put all the screws back in the right holes, since some may be special grounding screws.

Bulbs can be had in most grocery stores, hardware stores, home improvement centers, and big box or department stores.

Many models use halogen lamps. You must not touch the new one with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

Wolf MWC24 turns on and spins. Does not heat on microwave or convection. Any ideas?

The Wolf DCM24 is a rebranded Sharp, similar to the Sharp model R-930AK, etc.

The Sharp version service manual is here, and while cosmetic parts won't interchange, internal ones will.

The problem you have is usually caused by a bad bottom door switch, or that switch's mount may be loose, misaligned, or broken.

See my help info on door switches here and here.

Once you look all this over, if you have other questions, please feel free to contact me by e-mail here.

Please include FULL model number*, FCC ID number*, + detailed symptom information. ( * on the tag in cooking cavity or around door frame or control frame or on back)

Can't open up back of wolf microwave mwc24

Some models use an tamper-resistant screw which can be removed with a specially-designed tool available from home improvement stores & appliance parts stores. But some folks just use a hammer to tap and loosen the screw, then a "star", t-type, or small flathead screwdriver can be used to remove the screw.

Sometimes the screws are tough, so you may only be able to just bend the center post slightly with a punch, then a small flat blade will "grab" enough to turn the screw. Pliers on the handle will help, too.

Another creative solution is to use a hacksaw or a Dremel tool to carefully cut a slot in the head so a flat blade will fit it.

Once the anti-tamper screw is out, it can be discarded and replaced with a standard screw.

NOTE: Always be sure to put any silver-colored cover screws back in the same holes they came from. They are often used to ensure a good safety ground from the cover to the chassis!

My microwave heats, but the surface light and interior light don't light up and the turn table doesn't rotate. Everything else seems to be working fine. What is the best way to trouble shoot the problem?

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

  • Light bulbIf your microwave light bulb is not working, perhaps it has blown. The first step is to replace the bulb and power on the microwave. If this does not correct the issue, the next step is to check the socket and wiring to verify if that is the problem.
  • Light bulb socket & main control boardIf your microwave light bulb is not working after the installation of a new bulb, check the light socket as well as the wiring to ensure they are properly operating. If these sources are functioning properly, the next step is to check for a faulty control board as a possible root cause to your microwave light bulb malfunction

Lights under microwave will not come on

When this happens, a lot of the time, it is because the the old bulb burnt up violently or it was unscrewed with the power still on to the unit and if the wires on the bottom of the bulb were twisted together, it probably blew a trace off of the back of the circuit board that supplies power to te bulbs. So either need to find someone to repair the circuit board or buy a new one if you can put it in, if not, need to call a servicer to replace it. But caution, thay are not cheap!!! Always unplug you microwave BEFORE replacing the bulbs!!!!!
