Hi,
This is a common problem of old DVD players and the cause is a loose loading belt. You can hear the loading motor running if you put your ear to the set during OPEN operation.. The solution is simple. The loading belt is to be replaced, if you have the belt and know how to replace it.
Good luck.

SOURCE: DVD stuck

Replace the drivebay of the Bose AV3-2-1 If the drive sticks, or does not open, or If you receive an error of NO DISK, or any indicator that the disk is not properly recognized clean the lens and if still doesn?t work then the DVD drive is bad. You can actually use one for a desktop PC with a few part swappings. Check that the drive is a Toshiba SD-M1612 it is printed at the bottom of the drive bay. To use this SD-M1612 as a replacement you will simply have to swap three external parts. Remove the 3 parts from the bad Bose drive bay: Remove the 4 bottom bolts, lift cover, if the DVD bay door is locked then insert a paperclip into small hole in the front. Slide DVD tray out and remove the PC style DVD ROM tray facing. 2 clips hold it on pry them out and slide the facing up and off. Now remove the face of the drive bay. It has several clips. Save these three components (top cover, face, and tray facing) to add to the new Toshiba SD-M1612 DVD bay. Remove the old and installation is the reversed procedure above. also remove the small clear LED bezel from the new drive before adding the face. It works fantastic.

SOURCE: DVD Tray in computer not opening

there should be a small hole on the front of the tray that you can push a pin in from and it will eject the tray. if its stuck and you still need to hit it, would be best to use your warranty to get it fixed or take it apart yourself and make sure noting is blocking the tray from opening. you may have to take the tray apart and put it back together to get it to work normally.

SOURCE: Need to reset samsung dvd vr357

With the unit on, hold down the FFW and RW buttons TOGETHER. Do this in front of the unit, NOT ON THE REMOTE CONTROL.

The unit should either open the tray or say REST OK on the front panel.

Hope this helps!!

SOURCE: display reads OPEN LOCK when I try to open dvd tray.

Samsung Home Theater Systems have a Dealer Lock or Tray Lock Function that prevents the disc tray from being opened.
There are four procedures for turning off the Dealer Lock function. Try one, then the other, to see which works on your system.
Unlocking Procedure 1 To turn off the Dealer Lock function, follow these steps:

  1. Turn on your Home Theater System.
  2. Press the Stop button on the front panel and the Power button on the remote control simultaneously for four seconds.
Note: Repeating the two steps above turns the dealer lock on again.
Unlocking Procedure 2 To turn off the Dealer Lock function, follow these steps
  1. Turn on your Home Theater System.
  2. Press and hold the Function button on the front panel for 3 seconds. The display shows the word Unlock.
Note: Repeating the two steps above turns the dealer lock on again.
Unlocking Procedure 3 To turn off the Dealer Lock function, follow these steps
  1. Turn on your Home Theater System.
  2. Press and hold the Open/Close button on the DVD player on the front panel for more than 4 seconds.
Note: Repeating the two steps above turns Dealer Lock on again.
Unlocking Procedure 4 To turn off the Dealer Lock function, follow these steps
  1. Using the HTS remote press the Menu button + 712, and the HTS will display CAN OPEN.
The Dealer Lock feature is mainly used by retailers to ensure that the display discs are not removed. However, parents of young children may find this feature very useful as well.

The DVD Tray will not open

There is usually a little pinhole, above, to the side or just below the door, that a paper clip (straightened) will fit inside. Simply push the paper clip into the hole and carefully, but firmly push the door open. It may even work correctly after you do that. (usually does). Note: Once the door is opened enough to grab it with your fingers, you can (slowly) pull it open, but it's still best to continue with the paper clip as you do it.

Hi, my samsung dvd-vr357 doesn't open disc tray and i can't see the menu on tv, i tried to reset unplugging and waiting but it's not working, do you know what i can do it?

It seems that the mother board has problems and so the power supply to the main board from the SMPS must be checked. Also check the +5 to the processor and the display board , check the linking cords and the connector. Also to confirm the processor you will need to check for the parameters on the IC, check the oscillations on the crystal.
If this wont bring back any life the mother board is a suspect and must be confirmed.
Check estimate, swap to confirm before you invest.

My samsung vr357 will not load a disc

The laser lens needs cleaning . You can try a DVD cleaning disk from Target or Walmart . If that doesnt work , the player will need to be opened and manually cleaned

Tray will not come out

Pry it open with a paper clip directly in the middle. Don't worry it won't break the player. Once the door is open enough to grab with your fingers, then slowly and carefully pull the door back as far as it will go, then press eject button and it should put itself back on track.
