I've got a Coby dvd-244 that is saying that the disc is not readable on several different dvds.

there is a flat white strip that is connected to the body of the lens replace it if that does not remedy the problem replace the lens.good luck

Does it work on store bought DVD's?If it does it means it's not compatable with homemade dvd's on pc's or other recorders.If it dose not you have a dirty lens.If a lens cleaning cd doesn't work,the dvd deck has to be replaced,probably exspensive.

If the unit is showing "no disk" on every disk that you try to play, unfortunately, the unit has developed a defect and needs to be replaced. It can not be repaired. Our warranty is 90 days from the date of purchase. If you received the unit as a Xmas present, please call 1-800-727-3592 for instructions on getting the unit exchanged.

SOURCE: WRONG DISC ERROR WHEN PLAYING A DVD

HI,. this is a lens assembly fault. the lens is malfunctioning or, it may have stopped reading. this wrong disc code is just a universal warning that is concerning a fault if the main board doesn't receive any data(audio,video) when the disc is inserted.

Due to the integrated status of your unit, this will be a costly repair because, the entire assembly is combined together with the vcr section as well.

You will need to replace the entire assembly to fix this issue. the lens has burned out.

you can confirm my diagnosis by preforming a cleaning of the lens with a cleaning disc. if the unit continues to not read or play a CD after the cleaning, this will confirm my diagnosis.

try to clean the lens with a lens cleaner.if the problem is still there, then your lens is defective.you should have it repaired.
