I had a similar problem and visually I could not understand what the problem was. I perfectly understand how the system works with sensors and beams, but the problem was clearly not in the web covering the receiver. I had to look for experts in this field because I know absolutely nothing in the field of electronics and programming. I found the guys (that's who I'm talking about: https://everlastgates.com/austin-texas-automatic-gate-repair-installation/) who quickly disassembled the gate, did something with the electronics and now everything works like clockwork. I have no idea what happened there, but the guys said that this is standard practice at cheap gates like mine.

Do you have sensors that stop the gate closing on people or cars ? If so put your ear near the sensor but not inline with the opposite one. Now gently wave your hand in front of it .... if there is no click then something is obstructing the beam. Sometimes spiders get inside and spin that candy floss type web in there .

Your gate controller reciever only has one code. You must set all the remotes to that code?

Steps to Programming Centurion Nova Remotes

1. Unlock the motor cover with your Centurion Key, remove this cover.

2. Inside the perspex enclosure there is a small Receiver Board (approx size of a matchbox), identified by wording CENTURION CP9Z, also has the wording J1-Learn; J2-Erase.

3. There will be a small 'shunt' placed on one of the pins labelled J1, J2 or the centre pin - these are the 'Learn' pins.

4. Remove this shunt and place it over (or bridge) the J1 and centre pin together. The red LED Status light, to the left of the Learn Pins will illuminate.

5. Remove the new Remote/Transmitter from its packaging, hold down the required button once and the red LED Status light on the Receiver Board will flash once indicating that the button has been learned. As soon as the light has flashed, remove your finger from the button.

6. If further Remotes/Transmitters are to be added to the system, repeat step 5.

7. Ensure that you now remove the 'shunt' and place it back onto the blank or J2 pin - do not leave it bridging two pins.

8. Close the enclosure, place the motor cover back onto the motor and lock in place.

On a D5 Motor To program the first remote place the jumper on in learn mode over J2 and Central Pin after it has completed flashing remove the jumper. Press the button on the remote you want to program, wait until the gate starts moving. To program addtional remotes use the master remote. First remove the jumper so that the 3 pins are exposed. Press the button on the master remote and hold it in. Notice that the LED next to the pins starts flashing after it has flashed 11 times release the button. Now press the button on the second remote and hold it in it should learn the signal.

Centurion gate motor

These gates have the ability to adjust opening, closing distances and speed. Your manual has the instruction. I would recommend a qualified technician make the adjustments as you have to get inside case(where high voltages are located).

How to programme a nova 4 button remote on a gemini gate motor

It's important to know that the Nova remote controls are not compatible with the Gemini gate motor. In order to get these remote controls to work with your Gemini gate motor, you'll need to install a Centurion receiver first (see http://www.centsys.co.za/upload/product_link_files/CS37_Nova_Receiver_Instructions_1031.D.05.0012_4.pdf). Once the Centurion receiver has been installed on your Gemini gate motor, follow the programming instructions as per the leaflet that accompanied your brand new Nova remote control, or download the instructions from http://www.centsys.co.za/upload/product_link_files/English_Transmitter_InsertCS37_1031.D.02.0027_1_Nova.pdf

My gate is equipped with a D3 Centurion gate motor. When I push the button to open the gate, the motor turns in the opposite direction (close) and tends to close further. Then if I deactivate the gear box...

if you push the open button and it closes indicates that you have the wrong polarity connected to the motor
gate motors are DC so where the positive and negative wires are connected are critical for rotation direction of the motor
