This will potentially sound odd, but run the 90 degree cycle with 3 dishwasher tablets in the drum. The smell is bacterial and probably the result of a build up of residue from biological soap powder (Which is simply bacteria that eat your stains). I dismantled and checked various parts of the dishwasher and everything seemed to be working. I noticed with a phase tester that the pressostat never got any voltage. This led me to check the microswitch on the door which turned out to be broken (never making any connection). This is the microswitch that turns off the dishwasher when someone opens the door.

So an unusual problem - two faults at the same time i.e. clogged and overflowing drain and broken door switch!

I ordered and fitted a new door switch and now the machine is working fine again.

What usually happens with this machine is the peg that the spring attaches to breaks. You will need to drill a small hole into a nearby plastic tab and attach one end of the spring into this hole. Job done.
