Applying modest heat to the lid can also help sometimes, if it was a vacuum-seal issue. As far as the buildup, you can wipe down the outer ring of the work bowl and lid with a rag that is dipped in a little distilled white vinegar and it should help get some of the grime off there, if buildup caused the issue.

Glad you were able to resolve it.

SOURCE: BLACK & DECKER HC3000 HANDY CHOPPER

I have a Handy Chopper Plus (3000), but am missing the blade. I haven't been able to find a replacement, so I'm willing to sell off the other parts. I saw several postings by people needing the lid or cup part. I also have the base, if anyone's has died. It works great. Top and cup are both in excellent condition. Or if you know where I can find the replacement blade, I would welcome your input!

Machine with blade on starts when locking lid is off ??

Hi Gill

Let's guess that your MYSTERY item is a Food Processor and not a Computer. I moved the question from 'Computers and Internet' category.

There is a safety interlock switch in the base that is pressed by a rod through the handle using a ramp section in the locking lid.

If my guess is right, it is very dangerous, and you should not use it until it is repaired. It may be that you store it with the lid locked down? This is not a good idea especially if the little hole has moisture of food debris in it as it dries out. You can look at it and see if you can free the button up.

Lid broke

change the lid found a web site that seems to have the part. I was looking for the same item. I just put in FP1445 (Processor model number) in the search field and it showed all the parts available. There are no images though so I hope it fits when I get it. Here's the web site. http://estore.fox-international.com/b&d.asp
