It is a kenmore 665.13593k600. The way I can get it to work is if I shove it closed firmly, then I can get it to start after a few tries. Would a new panel control board help, or something else?
All dishwashers have a switch of some kind to stop them running with the door open, this is most likely the fault .
How do I check this? Do you know the part I would need to replace?

Consider examine inside there is maybe fuse busted on the panel or in the circuit through the control panel of the machine.

Your question is: You purchased a white Kenmore dishwasher and you are redoing your kitchen and all of your appliances are Kenmore stainless steel. You were wondering if the front panel was the only replacement or if you needed to order something else for the control panel.
It's your choise. If you like the control panel, keep it. If not, replace it when you replace the white panel.

That is a comon problem with that model. It is not sensing a temperature change in the water.
Push i believe it is heated dry and sani rinse going back and fourth between the two to clear the code and see if you can get it to complete a cycle. If it doesnt call sears and schedule service there is a service flash repair that should not cost you anything to repair the unit.
