SOURCE: Ceiling fan does not reverse with remote

Just reporting that I called Hampton Bay about the remote not working to reverse the fan. I was told that I needed to have the fan running on low and then press reverse on the remote control. If that doesn't work, customer service told me to press reverse while running the fan on medium. (Some fans are set to reverse on low and others on medium.) Nowhere in the manual is this addressed. I had been pressing reverse with the fan turned off, which seemed to me a logical thing to do. Live and learn.

SOURCE: reversing direction on remote controlled fan

There is no switch. Put the fan on high then hit the reverse button. Your fan should stop, reverse and you'll bet all set.

SOURCE: How to wire a remote control ceiling fan, without using remote.

If you don't want the to use the remote you don't have to, but you don't have enough wires to switch the upper light, the lower light, and the fan. You can, however, switch the upper and lower lights together if that's okay. In order to do that you'd connect the white from the ceiling box to the white (neutral) on the fan, then the green from the ceiling box to any green(ground) wires on the fan, then the black from the ceiling box to the black(motor) from the fan, then the red from the ceiling box to the blue and orange (lights) from the fan. I'm assuming that the black and red in the ceiling box are also in the switch box where the fan/light control switch is going. Those are the ones you'll connect to the controller.

SOURCE: HOW DO make the HAMPTON BAY UC7083T CEILING FAN go

Very quickly press each fan speed from 3-2-1. I just swipe my finger across the buttons. The fan will start to reverse. It can be a bit finicky and won't work every time, so just keep swiping across the buttons until it changes direction. I discovered this after I noticed the fan would reverse direction when my toddler played with the remote. I just tried combinations until I figured it out.

My Hunter fan using remote 85095-01 will not reverse ceiling fan direction.

Free online manual gives a suggestion that you may already tried to select the fan speed, and then click on the reverse button.

Some ceiling fans also have a cord to pull to reverse direction, but unknown whether or not your fan has it.

How to manually reverse ceiling fan direction.

Hi,
You did not provide a make or model of your fan, but check your owner's manual if you have one. There should be a website or a service support telephone number to obtain more information. Most ceiling fans have a reversing switch on the fan itself. They can be a pull-chain type or a slide switch.

Hunter ceiling fan 22450 no reverse switch manual says there is.

Model 22450 does not have a reverse motor. The blades are spring loaded. You change the blade pitch by pushing in and twisting. This will change the air flow direction.

How do I reverse direction on my minka aire f569 ceiling fan

I've got a couple of Minka aire ceiling fans in the home I moved into. The larger one didn't have a problem switching directions using the button on the remote. The smaller one I couldn't get it to switch direction with the remote but in a post above someone mentioned fiddling with the on-off wall switch. So I played around a bit holding down the remote switches for fan speed and reverse direction and flipping the wall switch off and on again and after a couple of tries the fan reversed direction, so thanks for the tip!

Unable to reverse Thomasville ceiling fan rotation w/remote

I e-mailed Thomasville Lighting after my original post but did not get a reply. I then searched and found a similar problem on this site (http://www.fixya.com/support/t187540-ceiling_fan_not_reverse_remote) and read the Best Solution which mentioned running the fan at medium speed (not low), then pressing the Reverse Direction button....it worked. As stated in the original suggestion, this was very counterintuitive and not documented in the manual.

Ceiling fan

The reverse switch is always located on the fan housing itself.  You cannot reverse using the remote.  Look for a black slide switch, probably located on the top surface of the fan housing so you cannot see it easily without a ladder.
