SOURCE: Loud clacking sound from the washing machine as spin cycle starts

Yes you either have a whirlpool or kenmore...since you didnt mention the make I guessed :) It sounds like you have a bad coupling, have included a link giving you instructions for replacing the coupling and a link where you can buy the coupling.

http://www.thisoldappliance.com/howto/Motor_Coupling.htm

p.s you don't actually have to remove the cabinet, the motor, pump and coupling can be accessed by tilting the machine back and wedging something under it so it does not fall on you while your working on it.

you can purchase the part from:

http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=3963893

Hope this helps.

Is it normal for the washing machine to start and stop the spinning while the machine is in each cycle? Should it take over an hour to run one wash cycle?

Yes...they use less water...so they start, tumble, then cycle again adding more water. I use the fastest setting on all my clothes which is 1/2 hour. It also does start and stop during spinning to tumble the clothes. It speeds up as it goes thru each stop till it spins real fast. All my clothes wash perfectly on fastest cycle.

After wash cycle, tube will not drain water?

Probably a blocked empty pump filter. Spin won't kick in until all the water is evacuated. If there is a little left, the machine will do the slow turn cycle that it does just before spin starts but not start the spin cycle because of the water in the drum.

You need to locate the filter and clean it. That should fix your problem. Once this is done, remember to keep the filter clean every few months.

Not spining properly on daily load cycle

Make sure door mechanism is working at fine. So next is to check whether the motor tumbles both directions.
The spin bearing might be a problem, but normally you'd hear a problem here first. Have you heard any freight trains passing through the house in the spin cycle?
One thing to check for this problem is the spin speed switch. If the spin speed switch is bad then the control won't know how fast to spin, and so it will just not spin at all.
The drain pump must be draining all the water out. If the water doesn't drain out then the pressure switch won't read empty and that might prevent a spin cycle.
I hope this helps.
Please reply with additional details for further assistance.

Bosch Maxx WFL2260

Here are the symptoms: - Wash cycle seems ok but can not be sure. When complete the rinse commences but am unaware what happens next. This is what I have done Started washing clothes and waited for cycle to end(!) or problems start. Switched off and set program knob to rinse. At this point I select spin and after a while the water starts to empty. When a sufficient amount has emptied I stop the spin (no spinning has began), and set the knob to wash again. This now allows clean water to rinse the clothes and when I think it has rinsed enough I set the knob to off then spin again until all the water has emptied. When the drum is empty the spin cycle should continue but does not. What happens is there is a clunking sound and the activity light goes out again, when it comes back on the machine tries to start the spin again and the sequence is repeated.
