SOURCE: k550 air in ink feedlines
I have had this happen a couple of times and have cured it easily. It has only happened with the black with me. It seems to be caused by air in the ink feed line. With the printer switched on open the top cover and hold the resume button for 5 seconds. The printheads should move to the left and you may be able to see air in the pipe(s). Remove the printhead of the offending colour(s) then insert a syringe with the plunger fully down into the rubber that the printhead connects to. Draw up the syringe plunger to draw ink/air through until you can see no more air in the pipe. Replace the printhead and close the cover. The printer should now do a calibration with the offending colour hopefully now working.

Hi,
Please replace the Black print cartridge and check.
usually when the ink in the ink in the cartridge is low this is the issue

It does sound like a print head problem. Unfortunately, the print head in the C5180 is not removable and therefore not user serviceable.

I assume that you have tried to reset it:
-press the print photos and red eye removal button together
-once doing that on the little screen on the printer it should be asking to enter special key combo
-enter "red eye removal, print photos, red eye removal"
-after that it should be on SUPPORT menu
-press the right arrow and go to resets menu
-press ok
-go to partial reset
-press ok
-the machine will turn off by itself
-just turn it back on after 1 minute
and it didn't work.
in that case the processor of the printer is no longer capable of generating the format of the final image for the cd - hardware failure. The only way to fix it would be to replace the mainboard but this costs more than a new unit so it will be cheaper just to buy a new one.
